Thank you , couldn't have been any better then it was , perfect weather , good conversations , new aquaintances and friends and a whole park full of good looking 40s and other sharp hot rods , yea buddy , my longest trip ever ,little over 2100 miles round trip . But I was praying the whole way !!! Guess I gotta have a little more confidence in the 40 .

  9. I always like seeing Ryan "Monkey" Miller's '41 pickup. Here's a video that @travisfromkansas shot with Monkey telling him the story behind the truck.

  10. Took the ‘40 to a local burger place to inquire about them holding a cruise night for our local car club. They said yes they would. If you happen to be in Sedalia MO on the 4th Saturday of the month, (March-September)stop by Goody’s Steakburgers on 65 hiway.

Hey Southpaw Customs can they actually get a burger through that window at the drive up or do you have to go inside to eat one?;)

  16. Yes, you can get a burger through the window.. However, the extra larger drink wont fit through the window and tipping it sideways doesn't work either. The plastic lid pops off , you know I have first hand knowledge on that part too!

I have know Ryan since he was knee high to a grasshopper, hard to believe that smart mouthed kid grew up to be a good man. Well grown up might not be the best term, lol.

Boy did this pic bring back memories! Graduated high school in 1960 and worked at a Mobil station with my hot rod between high school and college. Back when people would come in and get a dollars worth of gas. In between customers boss allowed me to have my '47 Ford tudor on the lift. I was lucky, we did mechanical work on State Troopers from the local barracks. Came in handy for minor on the road transactions usually dismissed as "oh your the kid from Mac's Mobil". I had a 283" with dual quads, scavenger pipes, wicked rake and no hood so I attracted police scrutiny mostly from the staties. Our little town, Rhinebeck NY, had only one officer, just like Mayberry and he knew everyone.

Thank you for making the picture come to life. Sadly I wasn't driving during the 60's, so it is kool to read the stories about the era. You learned an important lesson at a young age, it matters who you know.

I worked at a Fina gas station while in H.S., That coin holder would have got your ass kicked the first time you reached across a fender and got it against the fender while washing a windshield. It didn't matter if someone only got a bucks worth of gas my boss had us wash the windshield, check the oil, ties, battery, and anything else they wanted done. At the time I thought it was a pain in the ass, but looking back it was really a great time. I wish the still had service stations.

  26. Ditto for me, except it was a Texaco. You definitely better have that changer AND your belt buckle on your side or your ass was gone. Washing windshields and sweeping out did offer some great side benefits though!

playing with this one a bit-flathead with a Columbia for now-47K mile Ca car restored again some years back. Runs great as is. Initial plan was to take out and sell all from radiator to rearend but am kinda enjoying it like it is.
