Taking in consideration the builder is in Sweden it's not like he can easily acquire parts just down the street like many of us. The OP built a nice hot rod from what he could acquire and to me it stands head and shoulders above a stock Coronet. HRP
That car would turn heads no matter where it was built. Outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Danny, Perhaps that is because of it’s ‘lifted’ suspension. It occurs to me the ‘53/‘54 Dodge Coronets share a great deal in common with the Fords of the same era. General dimensions, side profile, shape of windows, even the grills have some similarity. Ray
Good job Lennart! Even though I'm also one of the "dyed-in-the-wool" Mopar nuts, I really appreciate that you saved this car and made it into something it never was. Fabrication, paint and attention to detail are spot-on! I have (2) questions: "Is that the original (OEM) axle? If it is, what is the track width? Take care! - EM
Love the gasser coronet, makes a change to see something different. Here is my old dodge from 25 years ago, before and after.
Old Harper lol! ...."can I get a pak of cigarettes, some licorice, a bottle of old harper and a comb?" ..."I lost my Idey too...but it wasn't in a storm"
?? I see Halibrands and A/R 12 spokes both of which were available pre '65 cut off...speaking of trivialities... ever try to find a set of original steel wheels nowadays? let alone actual magnesium wheels?
You do? One of us needs new glasses then. I see bolt on 10 spokes that came out in 2007-08 . We've been through this how many times? Real Gassers had to have front brakes, so they didn't use (12 spoke ) spindle mounts. The rears are bogus newer creations too. Neither are allowed in the SEGA 's. They have strict rules , in order to make their cars look traditional . There's been what, a hundred or so built now, and they don't seem to have a problem finding new, safe vintage looking wheels.
Impressive build and craftsmanship that I can appreciate for for attention to detail and the talent of the builder. Congrats on a job well done Lennert.
Outstanding! I love the front bumper, legal but subdued. What did you use to build it and what did you do to make it fit?
Hey if we're not allowed to use reproduction shit around here, then you brookville and fiberglass people need to pack your shit and go. Some still have to use what's available. I'm too smart to pay thousands of dollars for "old wheels" because you approve of them. When i can buy reproduction for way less that "look like the real thing". As for his front wheels i really don't give a shit. It's his car.
