The first things my tired morning eyes zoomed in on was the headers hanging below the car!! Awesome car Jim!!!!!! I never get tired of seeing pictures of it! Helps keep me motivated! Lol

Hi Everyone , I have been looking at this post for a while, I bought a red 65 coupe that has a sticker of winning the old US30 dragstrip in Indiana which looks old and original. Anyone knows part of the story?

currently no front bumper, with smaller headlights. I am restoring it and wanted to pay tribute on its racing carreer.
    Thanks

My apologies if this is not the place to ask!
Or maybe is not original but wanted to check with the experts in the matter.

DITTO!! I'm pretty sure that sticker is a reproduction. Not alot of age to it.
That being said, the vette is sweet. You should be pumped.

    327 manual. I bought it with a performance 350 engine from a 69 vette.

Yes might bring it to stock look but remaining 350 the 69 engine

Looks like it might be a '65. If so it would not have been a 340hp. If it still has the stock tachometer what is the red line?

They are nice but I bought a set of Knock off

True, I did confused with the 63 I have.
Tach looks original, read at 53-55rpm

If the tach is original to the car then it started life with either a base 250hp or the optional 300hp 327.

LB that is my black 62 at Autorama few years ago. That picture is from Car Craft online. They chose my car as top 40 pic. That is me in the blue checkered shirt. I feel younger than that picture seems to portray.

Yes Jim, That pic definitely doesn't do you justice. They say the camera adds 10 lbs. I think that one added 10 years:)

Bruce I still feel like I am in my thirties in my mind but my body and the photos do tell a different story. When I saw that pic I wondered if I am really that old. God I hope not.

Scott they are 75 series BF Goodrich Long Trail 215/75R/15. They are getting harder to find. I put the same tire in a 70 series on my red car and did not like them as well. I ended up finding a set of 215/75R/15 on ebay that were new and in a warehouse in Chicago. I like a tall tire that looks skinny-kind of old school in a sense. The tires are mounted on 4-1/2" wide Cragars which may help the look since it may affect the sidewall.

It's something of a shock to realize that picture was taken 50 years and a few weeks ago. Clearly, an ocean of water has gone under the bridge since that foggy morning. It was so dense that just finding the track was an accomplishment in itself.

We had been late getting out of the barn and overnight parking in the pits was not allowed so we flat-towed the car home, put the head back on, set the timing by ear, and hooked up to tow back to the track on Sunday morning. I really didn't want to miss that photo session.
