Can you notch the air cleaner aka makitfit?...

  7. was looking and looking for a fan to use but it was either wrong rotation a stinking flex fan or just to large. Seen a 4.3 fan in back of trash truck and was about right size.. hmm again wrong rotation though.. UGH

So looked at my solid axle conversion s10 blazer with a 2.8 and WOW look at that cute little bugger and correct rotation to boot.

...well that would be a sizable notch...I hope you have a Plan B...

Maybe risers off the carbs, there must be a bottom housing that goes with that I suspect...there seems to be some wiggle room above...some...

I just noticed you don't have the
    mag in...

  10. You are correct...

Yes there is a bottom plate of sorts I started making from 3 different 2bbl air cleaners.

    20210131_173632.jpg

As you can see the Mallory fits...

I would have to raise the air horns for the base 4 inches to clear the mag ..o_Oo_Oo_O

Yes you may have to look at other options...certainly an obstacle,

Perhaps offsetting the filter box and studs fwd could achieve the goal...

  13. AS much as I tried the Mallory is the route I have to go.. The carbs are LARGE base Rottenchestors.

Nothing off shelf for it beside those stinking helmet's. With the air cleaner sitting where it wouldn't obstruct the carb flow it still sits over the dizzy.

Also the top plate has 2 factory notches the the rad support rods meet together like factory..

    20210131_180555.jpg

And yes I will have to Z the air cleaner rods go go thru the holes properly.

Leave room for when the engine torques over, both sides because the engine torques the opposite direction in reverse.

Tight, Tight, really tight...if you fabbed the lower box to have .5 to 1" of clearance above the carb you could move it fwd and the air could still pass freely into the carb but would it look wacky moved fwd that much?...I also see the water neck is also near under it which might also be a headache...just thinking out loud...

Thanks, I have used that air cleaner for 20 years but the short filter from Ford would cause fuel to be pulled from the bowl vents.

  21. Well going for it again.. Woodward right around the corner, And planning Dads funeral same time, Covid restrictions did not allow the funeral.

Got some done last weekend made the fuel lines for the carbs instead of the hoaky ass mess there was that came with them.

    20210620_101604.jpg

First time bending/fitting and flaring lines... OH what a joy that was, After about 6 scrapped pieces this was the finish.

  22. Then mounted the fuel pump and as close to a factory line was made to run to the carbs.. Think it is tacky just running a rubber line up..

    20210622_195308.jpg

Also cleaned the pulleys and a shot kote of Krylon semi flat paint.. Painted the water pump and glued into place.

Almost rdy to fire this thing and break in the cam.
