Yes, but it would really only work out to about a half gallon.

That half gallon could make the difference in making it to the next gas station or not, though! :D

Right on...I saw a T Coupe at a cruise a couple years ago and learned a few things...one thing for sure after running out of gas in my Coupe twice I have never done it again...I always fill it before it hits 1/4...

  7. Unbelievable. The tank fitted to a turtle deck, perfectly. Maybe one sock too many.

"Tank" you for the tech' post.

Interesting your bit set. I have a similar left hand turn 6" bit set, for aircraft. Wisconsin made. Love them.

Nice work Paul, will the inside of the tank get coated with anything?

    Thanks,
    Probably not. Maybe.
I'll keep an eye on it, if it shows any signs of rust I will have to do something about it.

I was going to buy an aluminum fuel cell for my project but might try building a tank first. Just worried about the rust issue.

If you decide to line the tank I've had really good luck with Caswell tank sealer. It's the only stuff I've found that will consistently hold up against ethanol.

Fuel level sender and fill neck came in the mail.
I cut and drilled holes for the sender,
tacked the ring I had made earlier in place,
modified the sender to fit my tank
and temporarily bolted it in place to test fit.

Cut a hole in the turtle deck for the filler neck,
marked and cut a hole in the tank
and welded the neck to the tank,
    and checked fit and look.
    I think this will do.

    Looks good Paul

It’s truly amazing how much room our T’s DON’T have!! Seeing your fuel gauge sender made me question my decision to not put in a fuel gauge (only a little). Makes it more like a motorcycle. I watch the odometer, but my sore ass is also a good indicator! Enjoying your build thread.

...I can see the sign now...thanks for sharing Paul...;)

The Turtledeck tank...that's where the tank was with the stick...I think it was 1/2 the width or less of the trunk on the right side...

I am going to find those pics...they were Coupes...

    Hambtastic Eh!!

Snagged this 'bird rear seat off craigslist yesterday,
    it might work..
-if it looses about twelve inches across the seat

I think it's a '61 or '62 so it fits the era I'm shooting for..

    Played with wheels and tires
Blasted a pair of 15x5 Ford wheels for the front
and a pair of 15x6 Olds wheels for the rear.
Shot the fronts with Zero Rust non flat primer followed by Rust-oleum gloss black.
front tires, 5.60-15 Coker Classic 2.75 WWs came yesterday.
Pushed new valve stems in the wheels and wrestled the tires on.
Used a ratchet strap to force the tire beads out to the rims,
Filled to 26 psi, washed, dried,
    and balanced.
one took 2.25 oz and the other took 2.5 oz
    and mounted.

gotta wait for it to stop raining to paint the rears..

Watching you makes me want to make a Hot Rod from scratch, I love fabricating.

    Very nice craftsmanship Paul.
