Wow K13, I can't believe I mixed the two up! The Ruggiero Merc and Hegmans Merc are both examples of what I consider perfection to be. Thanks for the clarity.
If this is the same Mercury that I saw at Pistons & Paint a couple of years ago. I wouldn't change a thing. It was purrfect, looked like it rolled right out of a show room floor. I'll see if I can find my pics. It would be hard to fight the temptation to chop it... Lol!
Here’s my 51 with original flathead and 6 volt. Getting a hop up soon! Still looking for a pair of Fenton 8BA heads if anybody has them! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Rikster posted this kool picture. I had to share it...... First ever color photo I have seen of Jerry Quesnel’s 1949 Mercury Custom. This picture from Jerry’s collection was taken in 1951 shortly after Sam Barris, with the help of Jerry, had chopped the top on it. Sam Barris’s very first ’49-51 Mercury’s he chopped. When this photo was taken Jerry’s Mercury still had its original Mercury grille, which was later replaced with a custom floating bar created from 1951 Ford grille parts. The car also still had its single bar flipper hubcaps, and that wild white primer paint job which gave the car its nickname the “White Ghost”. From the Jerry Quesnel Collection.
This is a Merc you need to see in person to appreciate the Winfield fade. It is hard to find a picture of it that shows it off correctly. The camera seem to blend out the fade between the red and the yellow. Another example why Gene Winfield is one of the best.
This is so cool to see a pic that we have not seen yet of this car in its heyday! It would be great to see some more of the "collection"
My recently acquired green 50 barn find. I didn't need it, but I got it. I'm sure we all have used that excuse before.
