    Hi Peanut,
What period are you talking about here? There is early, mid and late 50's, Early 60's and then Kustoms sort of died out until their resurgence in the 80's. These are the era's that I know about but there are others here who know a lot more about it. Let's see what responses come from this.

  10. I have never seen a picture of one. Most of the painted trim these days seems to be the result of cost not a particular look. The chrome on cars back in HAMB era probably would not have needed replacing. Most would have been a few year old and was probably a lot less costly than today if it happened to need redoing. That or a brand new bumper could be bought. There was the trend in the early 90's but that didn't seem to be used a lot on "customs" per say but more prostock and street rod type car builds. Huge rear tires, pastel paints, monochromatic look. The big car builders and influencers like Boyd, Trepanier etc were also building modern custom style cars and seemed to either eliminate bumpers altogether or used chrome, Cadzilla, Sniper, Chezoom type build all had chrome or no bumpers. And the guys building a little more traditional style cars like Zocchi, D'Agostino, Dore were all using chrome.
