IMG_20210121_205027883.jpg IMG_20210121_201543290.jpg finally got the pistons in new mill for the roadster. Scrounged up all the oil pan and timing cover bolts out of my stash also.

Looks good Dave. I used VHT black epoxy paint on mine. Took me several tries to get it where I was finally happy with it.

fastcar1953....Is Kenny back at it? I had talked with him late last Summer and it sounded like he was going through some health challenges. I had been wanting his "how to do it" directions set on chopping a Model A Coupe, but he said he was concentrating on his health at the time.

Been plugging away with winter upgrades and maintenance on my heap. New cap and rotor, belt, crank seal, hoses, a bung in the pan for filter return.. Still waiting on tie rod ends. I did do a quick touch up job on the frame with some leftover truck bed liner. Thinned it with acetone and sprayed with a touch up gun. Looks shiny because of the flash, really it's flat. Tough as nails on the trailer I painted. My frame is nothing to write home about, build by a couple of Cubans in Florida decades ago with a stick welder and a hack saw. But it works.

  13. Resolved some issues with the rear brakes on my bird and otherwise just drove it to work every day this week...again. Because of the brake issues, I drove the 56 a couple days last week and the Corvair one day after the blower motor in the 56 seemed to have locked up (or something that I have not taken time to chase why there was smoke coming out from under the dash when my kid turned it on). The one day in the Corvair identified some work I still need to do on it now too before it can be a reliable driver...:( For some reason it puked out a bunch of oil on my trip home from work like it created too much crank case pressure or something and blew it out the dipstick. These old cars can suck at times...

I remember those. My '59 Ford taught me how to swap those trannies like a NASCAR pit crew. I was always knockin' second gear teeth off with my three-on-the-tree speed shifts in my formative years.

What came out (pictured) is a '69 close ratio top loader. Going to put an OD (4 speed) in. The origional Borg Warner T-85s were not as ummm...robust.

  16. My buddy's hood was finally released from paint jail; so we put it on and after a little tweaking it fit pretty good. Have to finish out the latch hooks on the front and shim the cowl lacing a bit. IMG_20210128_161846_3.jpeg

Got to thinking about my hot rod the other day and I had a moment where I realised that most everything was in place and all I needed to do to get it move under it's own stream was to do the plumbing, electric, brakes and some some odds and ends to the suspension.... In theory of course

I patted the fender when I got home. Dumping down rain, and the car has to live in the driveway, so it was all I could do.

The dents in the roof is straightend just a little left after welding in a patch panel. Thre was some rust under bindo and primer. The cowl is welded to- Yes it was rust there to. I started to measure the frame its square and no damage what I can see. Front and back corner of the rails are on the right height, but left rail are 1/4- 5/16 inch higher on the middle than the right rail. I have to measure more. Any way a good day in the garage 001.jpg 017.jpg

Last couple days I got the door in final primer and hung it back on to keep it out of the way, also did the body work over and primed the lower rear quarter panel. 13204470-77B5-4813-A690-FDEFF38E11BE.jpeg

Mine's a crusty old hot rod pickup so it's easy to have a little fun once in awhile. Today I masked and painted some scallops on the fenders.
