Something happened reading through this thread that made me switch from 'I don't like it', to 'I like it'....

    Cool and different ride man.

Some of the inspiration for the original build?

Auburn's 1928 Cabin Speedster, used an aircraft theme, burned in Los Angeles. At least two replicas have been built since.

I think I like the Aero-Special the best, but all are ones I had NOT thought of. Thanks!

I would call it a Flash Gorden Special. Built it when he returned from "outer space". Actually, i like it..

Get a little paint on it, like an old Tri-Motor

and start giving rides over the ocean. Well, maybe not that last part.

  6. They built cars along those lines in the '30s. They got raced at endurance races like the 24 hours of Lemans. I am nit sure that they would have been classed as a hot rod or a custom. granted hot rod was not yet a thing. ;) Perhaps an experimental?

  14. That's only half an idea. Actually a total cop out justification for any old crap, with no reference to style, balance or harmony of design.

If you want to stand out or be different you could walk around with a fish hanging out of your mouth, but the attention would be for less than good reasons.

@Brent Mills That thing is COOL. I would drive the shit out of it. I see no reason to worry about it falling into a specific category, other than trying to fit in around here. And, approximately half of the guys on this board will bitch about anything that isn't a red '32 Ford roadster with a 327. Love it!

  17. Stick your choice of flathead supercharger on it .. .. and go race that thing.

It would be a fun entrant in a T.R.O.G. event of your choosing. As the builder intended. Assuming all parts meet the rules criteria.

Saw this several years ago at the museum in LaPorte, IN. This one was signed as a 1929 and has a canvas sort of T-top. Was this one of the recreations?

Yeah, I think I am going to try and do this. There's a just a couple of things I need to address for such an event, but mostly there!

  21. Brent,
    I love it!
It just needs these Moon Discs or similar, and maybe bigger diameter tires!
IMHO! This picture came from one of the Moon disc threads right here.

Well, we are thinking the same. I will be using a halibrand wheel and firestone indy's (16" front & 18" rear).

Having seen some photos of this on Instagram, I actually love this thing. I don't worry if it is called a Hot Rod or a Custom, maybe it is a V8 special, it just makes me smile even though it has some issues aesthetically, kind of like your weird child.
    Thanks for posting.
