I am slowly gathering the front end parts for my hotrod. And of course it will need the kingpins done. But my question is, what reamer do I need? I live in Ireland where everything is in metric. I'll be fitting '32 spindles. Sent from my SM-A202F using Tapatalk
Just a suggestion: Take the spindles to your local machine shop/engineering shop and have the bushings honed to fit the new pins. They should have a machine like this: Hopefully much newer (this one is from 1928) but they work the same regardless. A honed fit tends to last longer than a reamed fit, due to no chatter. This happens with reamers especially adjustable ones.
I thought of that. They all use metric tooling. The pins are imperial. Sent from my SM-A202F using Tapatalk
Alan, with that type of hone, the mandrels have stones that move in and out. If they have a metric size that's a little smaller than your kingpin size, they should be able to hone your bushings
.814"(20.6756 mm) is the size most use for the bushing ID, the pins are 13/16" (.8125) is the OD of the pin. So a adjustable reamer/hone that will do between 20mm and 21mm will work.
