Unusual and unique for sure and I'm sure attracts a crowd. Looks like something that Captain Nemo would tool around in when the Nautilus was in port.:)

I don't know what to call it but I bet it's fun to roll around in. What dies it say on the title?

If it was mine I'd call it a WTF! :D

Love it! Unique one off art car. Definitely a steam punk vibe. Fellow in Grants Pass, OR builds great riveted aluminum rides similar to this. Rock on!

Yeah, I see your points...It's a grey area to me in that it is quite original chassis and running gear for an early Ford, aside from body.

What you are saying makes sense...Just that it is a traditional hot rod except for the coachwork, so it seems like a very grey area.

It was built over the span of 2018 - 2020. It was not complete when I acquired it, but mostly there. It is different to be sure! :)

I was sort of the same way. It grew on me. I feel fortunate enough that it took time for it to grow on others too, as it was for sale for a few days before I made a call. There were others negotiating, but cash talks.

Yes, there was a LOT of work involved in this ride.

Yeah, I agree. In this case it was built between 2018 and 2020. The gentleman had no airplane building or coachwork experience, but had ample time, patience, and ability to acquire tools necessary to get the job mostly done.

Certainly it has not gone through the design evolution of a fully funded top tier automobile company, but there is something to be said for different. Pugs are ugly, but because of their ugliness, they are cute. In this case, there is nothing perfect about the car. Side to side, it is different. There is no shape on the driver side that if formed identically for the other side would fit. It is quite simply the vision of one man and his hands abilities to recreate it. That is why I love it.

I have only had her for a couple of months, but I can tell you, it is a whole heck of a lot of fun to tootle around in. For the purposes of meeting other like minded car enthusiasts, it is 100% gold.

Not really a gray area at all. A hot rod could be built with the same drivetrain components but that doesn't mean something else built with those same components is a hot rod... or traditional.

It's, well, it's different. Kinda odd and kinda cool. Art car describes it pretty well. A little off on styling and symmetry, but well executed. Sorta like some of the more odd customs that just didn't make the cut.

Don't know if it fits any categories exclusively , but more a combination of styles that sort of fit together in a loose sort of way.

I'd just call it a "Ford Speedster". It has a traditional hot rod chassis (split bones, dropped axle) and a streamlined body

well..., really, with out the sorta modern upholstery, it looks very much like a lot of the post war one-off cars, and riveted campers of the era. i like it, and can surly appreciate the amount of effort it took to get it done

I like that the builder was thinking outside the box. I’ll bet he had a lot of fun putting it together! I like the back view the best.

Tough crowd around here yesterday. If you enter into the discussion, a s.c.o.t. blower ,or a set of Grancor heads,or whatever to that flathead,You would have a very good argument with any of the "Experts" that yes ,this could enter into their elite Group. And Barney (Old field)might back you up.I applaud the original builder for his efforts, and you for following through. Now have fun,and bring it to Bonneville to roam the spectators area.I keep seeing a set of flowing aluminum fenders on it.

    Love it.
I’d suggest installing some large skinny wire rims on it and shorten up the height of the windshield in some visual fashion.

    This comes to mind.

Kept me up all night ...thinking:eek:

    Ford V8 Alumi-Special
    Ford V8 Aero-Special
    Ford V8 Alumi-Speedster
    Ford V8 Aero-Speedster
    Ford V8 Aero-streamliner
    Ford V8 Alumi-Streamliner

I love this (fill in Blank) and the only change I would make is adding some 36-39 Ford hubcaps to make it look more streamlined.
