So, you know when you aren't sure where you quite fit in...you look around and everyone looks different? Well, here, is something a little different. 21 Stud 8, with 28 frame, juicer brakes, and basically everything stock Ford, except the body/interior.

    Thoughts?

Yeah, the grey area for me is that it is traditional except body/interior. The original builders inspiration was bonneville and the race of gentlemen.

Not wanting to say anything bad, but looks like a cross between A belly tanker and a tear drop trailer.
    Hope you’re not offended.

It's ok...It inspires different reactions from different humans. :)

I did go out on a limb to make that assumption. I still think I am right. :)

I think Vandenplas has nailed (or riveted) it. It´s unusal but cool and well executed. I´d call it the Model A Streamliner.

Haha, and I ´d also go out on a limb and say it´s neither a hot rod nor a custom , but rather a coach built car. If you go back to the 20s and 30s rich people would by a chassis with drivetrain and cowl from Rolls Royce, Mercedes or whatever make they wanted and had a coach builder fab them a body suiting their needs... "Custom" as I understand it would rather be a remodelled or altered factory body and a hot rod a car that´s been altered to go fast(er). But that´s jut my definition , everyone´s free to disagree:)

Oh, that is an interesting and probably more accurate take on it.

  18. Sit's up too high to qualify as a custom, leans more to the hot rod side IMHO. HRP

  19. It's a one-off riveted body on an old Ford chassis. This one seems to have an old aircraft/trailer/rocketeer theme.
Ford chassis had lots of old ball bodies built on them over the decades. But this is not a custom or hot rod. It's only relationship with 'custom' is that it is a non-factory body.

  20. Not my 1st choice .. .. but I do dig it. Very well built. Aircraft coach .. inspired. Not the first to do as such.

Saturday Evening Post, or Popular Mechanics had similar examples. I believe one was Seattle or Los Angeles based .. an aircraft employee build. Pretty neat.

The workmanship is dead nuts, close to the one I mention. Is yours a recent build ?? Who built it ? Any background on it ?

Likely .. quite the conversation piece. Both spirited debate & inspired varieties, I'm sure.

**What seats are those, by the way ???

  23. Art Deco, Dirigible inspired, coach-built Model A.

  24. Other than "cool" I don't think it needs a label.

Not traditional hot rod or custom as others said.

It's got Steam punk all over it but to me it looks more like someone who worked in aircraft fabrication might have come up with.
I'm not sure who built that one but one built in the 30's 40's or 50's that looked like that in and out would probably have been built by someone who was far more into airplanes than hot rods or customs.

  26. It's close enough to Aircraft tin work for me to understand and appreciate what is done. That said and my personal point of view it's just a lot of work for a Misfit and to make people say "did you see that"? The side profile is just Off also. Sliding scale 1 to 10 it's in the adjustable range.

I wouldn't call it steampunk, a hot rod (definitely not), TROG style, a custom or a HAMB vehicle.

Personal/hobby built, aviation themed, or coach built (even that is kind-of a stretch). But, it looks like someone put a lot of time and effort into it and would be neat to take for a spin.

  28. It's really cool, very unusual but I really like it.
Just imagine tearing around in it! Folks would look at it like a UFO.

It's NOT anything like it, but I get a Dymaxion vibe from it.
