This isn't my artwork but I was able to capture and bring back this old
faded painting from the side of a former Sears Auto Center and Ford
dealership. This goes back quite a few years and it's surprising that
it's never been painted over. For those in the area, this is located on
Chicago Street in downtown Joliet, Illinois. I apologize that I can't identify
the artist but he did an awfully nice job. I'm thinking that this measures
    approximately 10'x10'.

  10. I thought I'd redesign the 57 Cadillac Deville convertible and make it into a two seater. I think it would have looked pretty good. I wouldn't mind taking it out for a Sunday drive.

(May 1955). "I set the fastest A Fuel Coupe time of 120.32 mph at the NHRA meets that year." D.M.

    Hello,

The Don Montgomery we have all read about and admired near and far was a So Cal local. His books on So Cal drag racing are pretty good description of what and how he saw drag racing from his involvement from the early days. History is always fascinating.

Fuel has its own followers and if one is to be standing around any fuel burning race car, it give the eyes and nose a good workout. The 1932 three window coupe had a GMC motor, then added a Hemi motor later on for faster speeds.

It had the look of a pure legal coupe and was well known in So Cal drag racing circles.

He will be missed, but history, as he tells, it lives on through his books and memories.

  16. I always loved the old gas stations. Where I grew up there were too many to remember. A lot of them had beautiful landscaping around them some including fountains or beautiful ponds. And sadly, look at them today.

  18. I wish there was a WOW button in addition to the like one on this site. There is so much of the work on here that deserves way more than a simple like. My thinking.

I like them to .........hard to find large quality photos of old gas stations to use in my artwork. I added the hot rod to this image as this gas station photo is one of my favorites .............
