IMG_0330.JPG IMG_0337.JPG IMG_0325.JPG IMG_0326.JPG I've been telling everyone how this project makes me feel like i'm 16 again, you know, no money, no tools, not shop and working on my patio. I've stepped up and now am working in a garage at my Az. home. New Miller Dynasty on it way and my welding table has been cleaned up and i'm reddy to get busy. Someone told me the clevis's on the hairpin radius rods need an up grade to heim's and a double shear. Safety is always a concern. I was gifted a turbo 400, but damn, that chassis is narrow and short, not much room left for this large old man....LOL Mikio tells me the engine placement isn't legal, need to be moved forward. Still taking recommendations .............

are going to race it or what? if your going to race it, it will need more than just the engine moved forward.

I'm a native Californian who was there for 65 years minus time in the Corps. Moved here the day after retirement. We would love for you to come and start a shop, there is plenty of work here for your skillset.
By the way, what is the wheelbase of that chassis?

Chassis is looking good. I believe altereds in that era had a 25% (of the wheelbase) rule. Gassers only got 10%. Measured from the spindle to the front spark plug.
Those clevises and brackets should be fine, it ain’t an off road racer. Some of the great chassis builders did slick little double brackets all boxed in with Heim joints but I guess it just depends on how far into the details you want to go.
You need to start a build thread with a nice introduction to the project and what you’d like to end up with, then post plenty of pictures as it comes together.

No racing in it's future, just smoking the tires once in a while....

Got the Az home while I was still water skiing many moons ago. And as getting rid of the shop worst thing I've ever done. BUT, getting out of socal might let me live long enough to finish this beast...Axels and spindles next to set ride hight. So many thing to do, just have to do one at a time.

Sky, not sure what the wheelbase will be for sure yet. Need the front spindles. The chassis is 105 front to rear now. For now will be working out of my garage. Still looking for contractor to build a shop on property. Old concrete batch plant in town has been closed since 2008 and getting things done has been a problem. But if and when I get a shop building made I only weld for friends and old customers, make it easy to says, "what do I want to do today".....LOL

Bob, that 25% you speak of is exactly what Mikio told me when he saw the engine placement... Told him it will end up where ever it fits...LOL Trying to make it as period correct as possible, but it's going together slowly. At this point I sit back, look and let my mind churn up ideas. It is definitely a work in progress.

Is that the same Jackson Brothers that is responsible for the series of nostalgia drag videos (mine are VHS)?

I have a feeling that it is. But I bet it was more of a "sponsorship" than them owning it. It was common for photographers to do that back then.

These Jackson Brothers were from Denver, as I recall. They ran a series of cars. The video shooting Jackson Brothers were from California.
