I scored these skinny fronts at Thompson swap meet a few years ago. Trying to get this on the road for Spring 18DDBC74-4F97-418E-8F89-FE0858F61526.jpeg

I had a 392 mocked up in it but my toy money is low so it now has a good running 360 Mopar. I need to make a new bumper that has a bigger diameter. Just trying to build a dependable car to have fun with. Thanks

Thanks. My plan was/is to seal it up and fill it with something, air, beer.. Don't need more weight, already light in the front.

I snagged that piece of stainless pipe at least 20 years ago, been holding onto it ever since thinking I'd use it someday for something. Sure feels good to find uses for stuff like that.

  12. The first aftermarket wheels that I ever saw were Torq Thrusts. I was immediately imprinted like a baby duck to the exclusion of everything else.
Now, when I see any Cragar S/S wheels (or the rest), the little voice in my head says, "Not'cho mama."

  13. Torq thrust are like assholes around here, everybody has them! Cragar's will rust if you don't take care of em, and aluminum looks chalky if you don't take care of them, unless of course you buy new clearcoated stuff of course. Variety is the spice of life, if we all liked the same thing, the car hobby would be boring as hell. Good thing one person doesn't make the decisions for everybody else ;)

I liked the torque thrust type wheels , for years! Way back there about 1969 or so. I’ve had several sets of Cragers and others, but I still like the torque thrust style wheels. I don’t think they were called “ torque thrust “ back then. They were made popular on a car I can’t mention in a movie I can’t mention! Lol I don’t dislike Cragers , probably my second favorite wheel. I wouldn’t change the ones on my car, other than they are too wide and uni- lug. But different folks like different things. Don’t have to be a reason.

I bought a set of Cragar wheels for my new '73 off topic ride. The distributor was just around the corner from where I worked and he gave us a great deal. I don't remember the model or name but I never saw another set like the ones I had. In retrospect maybe they were ugly.

Any one have a Cragar book from the late 60's to early 70's?

I’ve had Cragar,Torque Thrust, chrome reversed and Rally’s in the past.
Strictly steelies and caps now for me but they look good on many cars.

  25. Those of us that were active in the later 60's and 70's know that SS's were everywhere. If you got into drag racer and found out the weight was hurting you, then you did something else. But, it was "the wheel" for a while just like the polished torque thrust 2's became the wheel decades after that. :)

Never referred to them as Torque Thrusts when I was in HS. Always called 5 spoke American's.
