Bare and painted? Isn't that an oxymoron?

I’m with you on this. I like the bare bones old school look. 1A2504EF-5626-4972-AA1C-DA505D10CCDC.jpeg

There is nothing so traditional as being short of cash. Bare wheels were a way of life in my formative years.

  20. Hell it's harder to find steel wheels around here than it is to find aftermarket wheels!!! Trust me, I'm trying!

Our local junk yard (he is a scrapper guy that does sell some parts) has a pile of plain steel wheels that is over 20' high, and is about 100' in diameter! If you go to him and want steel wheels, he will point to the pile and tells you: "Go dig out what you want, but be careful. If I don't see you in a 1/2 hour, we will come and make sure your not buried in the pile of wheels." He gets $25 for each wheel that you dig out, but you better be sure they are the ones you want. As far as he is concerned, they are all scrap, so no guarantees. He will give you $10 for each one you bring back (as long as there is no tire mounted on it), and he will charge you $25 for a replacement, which you get to dig out. If you don't want to go dig them out yourself, he "Ain't got any."
I don't buy a lot of stuff from him. Gene
