What is a good nostalgic drag racing performance single plane intake manifold that I could run with a Vertex Magneto I am thinking you cannot run a tunnel ram with a Magneto

Plenty of SBC's running TRs and a Vertex Magneto

  3. If a HEI will work with an intake manifold your wanting to use, a Vertex magniro should clear with ease.

But you would have to run a sideways linkage to clear tunnel ram

Not necessarily. You can run Holley 4160's inline with 1" spacers underneath, or run AFB's inline with no spacers. If you're wanting to run 4150's, you'd have to run them sideway's anyhow.

Any single carb intake will work (sbc)
    & most Tunnel ram ,& 3-71 to 8-71.
Your challenge will be Learning how to set up (Mag) & learning to start a engine with a Mag,

They sell a Relay kit for the magneto to work with a standard ignition key, If there is advanced timing built into the mag, starting is no different than a dist. If the mag timing is locked out and you are running a lot of compression , then there could be starting issues that would require a mag kill switch starting system

    No fancy electronics needed.
Most inexperience will try to start with Mag On , then say Mags are Junk !!
All thats required is to have mag to Ground off (-), spin the motor with starter 2 seconds or so , then Flip the Kill switch to On .. if all tuned & adjusted correctly .
