Once again, some more of my old art work.
COLOR stuff is old T-shirt art for our clubs annual car show. Most of it is drawn 4-color so it could be digitized for silk screen or transfer.
BLACK & WHITE stuff for Junkyard News which I co-published in the '80s, and/or car show flyer art.
CARTOONS from Street Rodder Magazine...was a Contributing Artist for them in the '70s. early '80s arc11.jpg us11.jpg 100_5013.jpg

  15. Here is a custom bead rolled panel that I made for a local garage this week. Get your Christmas orders in for your own custom bead rolled panels. Have a Great Day! Hobo’s Hot Rod Garage 583167D3-B12E-4EEF-8D88-FFBB6CC35705.jpeg
Above is after the bead rolling was completed
Below is the finished panel with what I like to call the midnight effect. Enjoy!

DON NOWELL DESIGNS: MAG WHEEL AND 32 SEDAN

    upload_2020-12-4_4-12-13.png
    Hello,

Don Nowell is well respected here on the HAMB. His 1937 blue Chevy B/Gas coupe is pretty immaculate. If we had been around one more year, it would have been some great racing in that class, against our 1940 671 SBC Willys Coupe. But, we did not know him at the time. Since being on the HAMB back in 2015-16, we struck up a friendship and exchanged some ideas and memories from that long ago time.

He had a side that did not show up on the HAMB and I was totally impressed with his “other” skills. There were some discussions about desert motorcycle racing near El Mirage on two stroke racing bikes. It was the time and place that was a possibility of running into each other. He allowed me to see some of his precise drawings and they were impressive. They were great industrial drawings and designs.

From this set of drawings, I was able to draw my own version with his dimensions as close to the original as possible. I normally prefer a 29 Model A sedan over a 32 sedan, but his drawings were impressive and I wanted to see what is possible in a finished project. Being the holiday season, a bright red 32 two door sedan seemed to fit on this Friday Art Show. (including some contrasting pinstriping)

    Jnaki

Knowing his taste for drag racing cars, here is a modified sedan with a little more horsepower. It could be B/Gas or street legal with a 10% setback.

    Thanks for the friendship, Don…

Recently, I posted here on the FAS, a picture of a 1937 Oldsmobile Grille that I have owned for the past 10 years, purely as a work of art. A fellow HAMBER @Giddygoat saw it, and approached me via PM and inquired if I would part with it. Since I don't have a 37 Old's and he does and the fact that it was his Grandfathers car, and he had been looking for a decent Grille for a long time, we struck a deal and today is the delivery day, for the Grille, to be on a deserving project. Its so cool that through the FAS, simply by viewing a random picture, that the grille is now going to be on a car where it belongs. I asked Giddygoat to send me some pictures of the car and of him with the grille all together, so when he does send the pictures I will post them here.
The H.A.M.B. is indeed, a virtual crossroads of the world ! Perfect timing for XMAS !

  22. Yeah, there's a story. My dad broad sided a Nash Rambler in 1957. It ran a stop sign on a rainy day. But no one was seriously injured. So years ago I decided to do a sketch of the event. I know I'm a little warped . Ron....

    Country Chase -

On a country back road local police car chases after a teenage hot rodder who has been enjoying his jalopy a lttie too much. A startled rabbit watches from the cover of bush near the road.

  27. The Friday Art Show has been a big influence over the years, if nothing else it's kept me interested in drawing and painting when I had other things to think about. When I had this weird idea for a book earlier this year I thought I'd like to get some of the FAS contributors to... er, contribute. I really wanted to find 26 artists to illustrate the whole book (26 letters in the hot rod alphabet), but having no budget and oddly enough people having other things to do I quickly realized that wasn't going to be reality. It also meant I had to draw the damn thing myself... that was a struggle. I narrowed my list down to a handful of guys I respect for various reasons and contacted them to see if they would contribute an acknowledgement of some sort. I basically said, "doodle something, anything." and (damn near) all of them did.

Some of these guys aren't on the HAMB anymore, but most are on my radar because of the FAS. Thanks to Ryan, @Jeff Norwell , Chris Piscatelli, Stefan Marjoram and Bart Smith for playing along. Funnily enough, I told them to feel free to be sarcastic or as nasty as they wanted... like, "who the heck are you to ask me to send you a drawing?!"... most didn't want. Artists helping artists.

This might be the first and/or only time @Ryan has had his artwork on the Friday Art Show :D

Just look at the talent here. I'm amazed...

While I was at it I figured I'd reach for the stars, so I contacted Robert Williams (yeah... that Robert Williams... Mr. Bitchin his fine self). He doesn't do e-mail, so I was given a phone number to call (sorry, I had to promise to eat the paper and smash my phone after, so no I won't pass it along :D). Long story short, we talked a few times and I talked to his wife Suzanne as well. Fantastic people. I'd met and hung out with them in Bonneville in 2013, but they didn't remember me, they meet a LOT of guys like me. I'm still not entirely sure why, but they agreed to play along ("you know I normally get paid for this sort of thing, right?!"). I had to send them an advance copy just to assure them I wasn't peddling kiddy porn or nazi propaganda.

Huge thanks to Robert and Suzanne, since everyone else probably had better things to do, they definitely had better things to do. Robert wouldn't contribute a drawing, he's tired of seeing his stuff end up on eBay, but he did write a blurb...

I know why some of the guys I contacted didn't want to contribute, I guess what I really don't understand is why some of them actually did :D I'm grateful.

That's not me, that's a doodle I did of my old pal Mark. Dig it.
