Two of my favorites at one of my favorite places...

 

Steve Wise from Lamesa, Texas, owned Humpin Henry back in the 70's and 80's when I owned my T Bolt. He was running a BBC in it at the time we talked. His car was an original Texas car. I can't remember which dealer sold/sponsored it, but it might have been one in the Midland/Odessa area.

 

Hello, I'm new to The H.A.M.B., and I wouldn't have joined, except for a coincidental viewing of this Forum as a non-member. I take it to be very offensive to be called a liar (and basically, that is what Tom S. of Tennessee, did when he said the story of The Country Boy Thunderbolt posted on Craig Sutton's site wasn't true. My name is Terry Woods and I AM THAT FIREMAN from Texas that bought the Country Boy from George in Nashville, TN. For Tom or anyone to state publicly that there were NO Thunderbolts in the Nashville area during a certain time without documentation shows the ignorance of the person making the statement. Fortunately, George corrected some of the misinformation posted about The Country Boy, but I still am offended when someone calls me a liar because he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground The information posted on Craig Sutton's site is 100% true to my knowledge; I wrote it. When I sold the Country boy, it went right back to Nashville. The man who bought it from me owned a talent booking agency called North American Tours. At the time, he was the booking manager for Kenny Rogers. He bought the Country Boy and had it moved back to Nashville, but before his restoration specialist could finish the restoration, the restoration guy died of a heart attack. The Country Boy was then sold to a buyer in Massachusetts. I know that buyer's name and have his phone number but it is private information.

For you doubting Thomas'. I only have a picture of the Country Boy when the original driver, Jim Cochrane, owned it. Although I had it painted and lettered when I sold it, the new owner who restored it, stripped off all the professionally done paint and lettering that I paid for, as I have noted from a photo of the restored car, posted on this forum. Also shown is the picture of my 63 R code Galaxie 500 convertible which was the cover car of the club magazine of The Performance Ford Club of America in 1987. The last known owner of the Country Boy was in Mass. and the last known owner of the 63 Galaxie 500 convertible and the 66 R code Fairlane was the same buyer/owner in Colorado.

 

Reading Al’s book during this Covid crisis has been a real bright spot for me...great read so far..always amazed at the “let’s try it” attitude these pioneers of speed had..

All you have to do is pop the back of the laptop off and unconnect the hard drive. Then get a SATA connection on a different computer or even a USB hard drive case and plug that in to any computer. Super easy.

I worked at Bob Ford in the late 70's. Original owner (really nice guy) was getting old at that time and sold the dealership to his general manager that I had worked with at another dealer. Don't know if he's still around but his daughter worked there and I would guess she's running it now.

 

how many projects you got going? At least they are all Fords

 

They should have kept the original name.... Oh, well...

It’s now called Fairlane Ford and yes it is the Daughter that runs it..the Body Shops the original Dealership...

 

Buddy of mine had a that worked there had a thing going with his daughter. The owner Mr. Walker hated him and tried to fire him a few times. We still laugh about it when one of us mentions it.

 

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere. I was going down an online rabbit hole last night and ran across this. He raced Hubert Platt's old Georgia Shaker Thunderbolt and was severely injured in a crash of that car. I'm sure the details are on this thread.

Lee C. "Mal" Malkemes, 83, of Hanover Twp., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020 at home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Frank and Mildred Keithline Malkemes.

He was known for drag racing and restoring nostalgic cars. He had a master's rating with the NRA to teach and certify police officers.

Surviving are his daughter, Leigh C. Malkemes; sister, Marylou Widman; companion, Genevieve Elliott Raeder; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

A later private inurnment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Arrangements are by George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, Ashley.
