Picked up this gem a few weeks ago. Plan is to lower it down a little, put a 60’s 6 cylinder in it with a sincro 3 speed, 53 chev pickup frontend, 57 pickup rearend, lay the windshield back a little and lower the top. Straighten up the fenders, correct the taillight, put ‘35 chev 17” spokes on it, rewire it, leave the interior alone and drive it!

An older gent in neighboring town has a '30 Chev roadster, and a sense of humor.
His son helped him put a '41 Merc flathead in it, ''50 Ford pickup trans and rear.
Fun to watch onlookers look at the engine, then the shell...then the engine again!

That is cool. Not sure if I’d do anything more than getting it running and drive it.

Most important question: how is the wood in the body? Great find

  26. Using the later truck axle will give you a stronger rear end (early Chevrolet axles are notoriously weak and gearing isn't great), better/hydraulic brakes, and the bolt pattern will allow him to run the same wheels, or early wire wheels.

Doing okay, PB- STILL kicking myself for not picking up some of your/your dad's 29/30 roadster sheet metal some years back :p

My Grandpa used to have a 1928 Chevy coupe back in the late 1930's when he was courting my Grandmother. From what I was told, it was green with yellow wheels and had an annoying habit of breaking rear axles at the most inopportune moments. He used to carry a spare in the trunk.

  28. Picked up motor, transmission, rearend and frontend over the last few weeks. Now it’s time to make some room and get started tearing it apart.
