That's a very well engineered and properly executed truck. It has a perfect stance and a timeless look. Ageless design would look great in 1978 and 2078, and I'm sure this truck will still be making necks snap then! I'm glad you got to be the steward of that rod, even if it only for a road trip.

I feel the same way about it, I may not own it but for those four days it was mine and I loved every minute of it.

Just caught this thread, grew up with this truck being 14 & the time it started prowling around Temple City & Pete & Jake’s. That chassis was their display chassis. That truck was a “rapid fire build”.
I’m not positive, but I think that chassis was built in 1975 or 76?
Later after Jake transitioned the closed cab to Ken, I was @ Pleasanton for the WC Nats. That’s where I found out that Ken was the new owner. I was sad to see that it would no longer be in TC , but now in IL. Ken’s a great guy, he also bought a 69 Camaro from Jake around the same time that Eastwood had right before Jake, it of course was sporting polished 5 spokes ....
I always dug that truck so I did what any young knuckle head would do, I built one similarly with a Pete & Jake’s equipped chassis, but it was a 30 roadster pick up, later turned into a chopped closed cab.
I also broke a right rear shock that P-Wood fixed @ his shop on Chestnut in Monrovia. Luckily it wasn’t a coil over, mine was buggy spring with chrome P&J’s shocks.
My truck is still in the family, I also bought a 28-29 to one day combine the “Dustin Hill”color combo & stance and the Jim Jacob’s wheel & tire look for my take on that particular “Cracker Box”.
For years, Jake had kept the stakes from that truck as the originally said what’s in the them now, later when they stopped repair, it said parts. with Jake’s blessings “REPAIR” went back in its place after he presented them to Ken Kennedy. Love hearing stories of the truck and seeing pictures that I haven't seen yet.
