Yeah, I hear ya... been there. I've got a looonng list of what I call "kick myself in the ass for gettin' rid of it cars"... Seemed like the thing to do at the time, but in retrospect, not so much! Luckily you got yours back. Get that bitch on the road, bro!

Okay. Is it just me? I don’t get the super tall shifter. What’s the point? Phallic symbol?
One old rat rod guy on YouTube built one from a guitar neck.

I don't get it either, but it is definitely A Thing.

Reminds me of the "Roth Style" of Monsters driving crazy maxed out-of-proportion cars... they always had a shifter like that. I rode in a truck with one of those long ass shifters in it. It vibrated violently, when going over rough spots in the road, to the point where if your leg or arm was close enough to it, it would beat the daylights out of you!

  7. My first car was a '49 De Soto that I bought from my aunt for $75. I didn't appreciate it at the time and I drove it hard until it developed a rod knock and I abandoned it on the side of the road.
This thread makes me realize just how wrong I was in so many ways. (In my defense, it was a 4-door in chalky, blue paint. I nicknamed it "The Iron Lung".) But there are some great looking examples here that deserve to be valet parked next to the front door of Delmonico's. :)

I believe I saw that DeSoto (or one just like it) at Shubitz near Portland several years ago... what a knock-out!

Just picked up this gem last week, 52 Plymouth. Love seeing such great examples in this thread!

low and slow! It’s pretty solid and came with just about everything except a front bumper and tail lights, so shouldn’t be long if I can squeeze it in between my other projects.

You are a lucky dog, Nicolas. If I were younger and didn’t have a shop full of an OT Mustang build I’d be all over that. I see a 265 Chrysler Spitfire in it’s future.

I'd really love to chop one of those but I think it would be a insane amount of work. Good find.

    Tony,

that’s the first thing that went through my head too when I got the car. It was less about how cool it would look, than how awesome it would be to accomplish it. The way the rear window pillars flow into the trunk is so smooth as it is, it would be tough to top

hey chuck, despite the valve covers I just got off you (received them today, thank you!) I’m pretty close to going the flat 6 route. Found one local that I might get a good deal on. Not sure if it’s a 265 though

265 might not fit anyway since it’s a 25 inch engine and your Plymouth takes a 23 inch one. Keep us in the loop with a build thread.

hey hey..the 265 wil fit if you massage the center front crossmember to clear the lower pulley and mount the radiator forward...i had one in a parts car i bought,,, use stock engine front cradle ...easy swap..minor cutting and welding ..

Nice Imperial... it's got a cow catcher grille/bumper! Surprising more of these aren't customized, they look soooo good with a little off the top!

I have a 53 sitting on my car trailer that I'll be pulling the 331 out of. They are cool but this thing is pretty roached.

That's impossible... 4 doors can't look that cool... or can they?
