I am in need of some 15” Chevy 5 on 4.75 wheels. Preferably thin. Would like a 15 x 4 but will settle for a 15 x 5. These need to accept the “outie” style hubcaps. Can’t seem to find anything locally.

4” wide are only available in the disc brake slotted style as I’ve found... there are even 3” wides. The Miller tire co. sells outer rims if you want to make them. If you have the centers it’s not hard.

Back in June Covid had Wheel Vintiques up side down and nothing was coming out of there other than what remained. Maybe it's different now?

If I could find original 15 5's via the classifieds OP should as well.

Maybe I (we) are spoiled. I just assumed that every major metro are had "the guy" that dealt in used 5-7 chev parts. Here it is John Thompson. He has been cutting up parts cars and hustling parts and cars since the 70's. He is a really nice guy and this is what he has done for a living the whole time. If I needed 55 wheels I would call him and just drive over and get them. Is this out of the ordinary? I would think every area had the same deal, maybe not????

California is a hell whole to find stuff from salvagers. But that's another story.

I sold a pair of "55" 15" wheels some years back for $50, threw in the studded bias ply snow tires.

I have steel wheels on order from Wheel Smith for a customers '40 LaSalle and they told me up front 10 weeks ago that it could be 8 or more weeks because of the steel suppliers being shut down by California. So we just wait.
It has been like this since this Covid crap started.

are 54 and 55 wheels the same? 54's were still tube type tires while 55 were tubeless and don't 54's use clips to hold the small hubcap on? someone post a picture of a 54 wheel. I would like to see it

I'm reading that 53 are different than 54(?) and that 54-56 are the same. This much I do know for a fact. Mid 56 and up 15" wheels do not have rivets. I'm speaking only to non Corvette wheels.

The ones I have have rivets and three bumps on the outside of the center raised area for retaining the small dog dish style hub cap. They are the originals that came on my 54. Still have the matching blue paint in the tire mounting area that matched the original blue exterior paint of the car. Slug

i think the 4 very small bumps on the outer wheel, not the center, to hold full size hubcaps on started in 55

  29. Corvettes had the same wheel as the 54-57 cars...or so I remember. I see a lot of ads for wheels that are being passed off as them but the centers are wrong. They are becoming hard to find and expensive to ship.
