I've started with a few that were in a lot worse condition then that one is in, and they turned out to be great cars and were fun to drive.

Your real adventure will start when you get it home and in your garage. I'll be watching for the build thread. Gene

Cats living in it? Sounds like you need more coyotes in the area....
Neat car, how come all the windows are broken out of it, lotta delinquent kids nearby?

  4. Great save if you can do it.....sad the family let it get to this state before letting it go.

Look at it this way...if there are cats living in it you don't have to worry about any stinkin' rats or mice living in it! I hate friggin' rodents! The only thing they are good for is...cat food.

Cats in it is much better than mice, it is really tough to get their smell out of a car!!!

No kidding! I bought a '55 Super from my sister that had spent the previous 6 years in a field beside her house in Washington state. Evidently no cats around. Had that car for over a year, scrubbed it, vacuumed it, hosed it out, repeat, repeat. Never did get the stink out. Hated to, but finally just had to let it go. The guy I sold it to disassembled it to restore it. He told me there were still mounds of mouse sh.. between the rear wheelwells and quarter panels inside the trunk I didn't get. Nasty little bastards.

Good luck. That will take a lot of work to get back on the road. Is the grille still good?

I hate cats. Every time I back my Austin out of the shop to work on something when I go to pull it back in the neighbor’s cat has pissed on my wheels. Did I mention they are magnesium Halibrands? Not to mention all the cat crap in my wife’s garden.
Love ‘50s Buicks though.... Wildcat, that’s funny.

Great score. And maybe cats are drawn to Buicks. Bought one from a friend’s grandmother that I loaded on a trailer to get to my shop. When I got there heard a noise and there was a kitten tucked in between the lower control arm and frame. I brought it back and she said “I thought I was missing one” that must of been one scary ride for the little guy.

Obviously you have never had an old Tom Cat around, they will back right up to most anything and mark their territory!

I've most definitely been around tomcats, I know they will mark their territory but they never pissed on anything like a wheel that I know of!

Are you sure that's a "Century"? Looks like a "Special" to me. Don't "Century"'s have 4 portholes?

Makes no difference though; they are essentially the same car except for the engine.

After the wash job, the car looks MUCH better; looks to be an excellent find. Having the engine complete (down to the stock air cleaner) is a big plus.:)

Also, the paint doesn't look half bad. I bet with a little work all of the extra "art work" on the other side could be removed with some surprising results.

The starter switch on the side of the carburetor was a strange "innovation" on those old Buicks.
