Customs My new project! 1959 Roadster

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by porkchop4464, Nov 24, 2020.

  1. I see more mini 1956 Continental. Except the Ford grille and front of the hood.

Theres a site called I think undiscoveredclassics.com that has a section called forgotten fiberglass that has all sorts of info/pics of fiberglass kit cars/bodies. Check it out.

Congrats - dare to be different - might rethink running a quick change once you get motor and trans

  6. Are you sure that the body is a la Dawri, and not a Victress S-1 A ?

It's not an S1A (think Mabee Drilling Special @ Bonneville), but an S4:

Those 'Space Age' headrests were an owner customization.

  8. Thanks for correcting me. I was pretty sure that it was a Victress body. There was a Victress body mounted to a chassis in Manchester, Connecticut many years ago. I longed after it, but I had empty pockets, then one day it was gone, never to be seen again.

This is great! It’s unusual to see a kit car from that period that actually got finished and registered but it’s unreal to find one that exists in that nice condition these days.
I would keep it on the Ford chassis even if it means finding a better one to build. That would retain the early vibe.
Any idea what engine/trans was in it?

Looks to be fun, plus Father n Son projects are super.
Even more so now days, cuts down on phone zombies.
I did one with my son Lance, around 12+ years ago. We built his dream car together, did every thing at home, from frame up,even the interior=a "T" bucket,he named "Pandora" LancezPandora.jpg in shop 1.jpg .
He even wanted a few things on it,that were like what I had done to my own hot rod "A" in 1959.

JJ, looking into it, I have heard, a lot of noise, money, and a bit of a pain to set up. But damn! they are cool as hell looking and they do give you the option to take off like a bat outta hell on the weekends if you so desire, even with a 200 hp engine!

Wow! Very, very cool! Now you know I have to ask... which is faster and have you both tested it?

You know, I have never gone the classic route, and I have caught a lotta hell on the Hamb for such. I deserved quite a bit of it, but some I didn't.

I do understand, now, with the rarity of this car and the cool factor of vintage parts that I just should go old school. It would be very cool to open the hood and see an old Caddy or 312 TBird in there with a tri-power, for sure. I get that.

Of course, a Mexican 4 bolt main black block, brand new can be had for 1400 bucks delivered and there is no rebuild just all brand new reliability and a huge array of available speed and dress-up parts to accompany or create any decade vibe and appearance. I have a lot to think about and my boy, only 8, has a lot to learn.

Wow! Looking over some sites, there was some very cool stuff back in the late 40s and 50s! These Kats had it going on! [IMG]

My son's T-"Pandora" by far is faster!.
My old 28A"Black Plague" has 57 Ford 292 Thunderbird V8 power ,is no match for his SBC 350 Vett power.
GPS speeds on his phone, show Pandora is one second less time zero to 60,Black Plague is behind right out of the hole, but I think mine sounds cooler,LOL.
