This 1932 Roadster I will built during this winter. I slowly have start it work with it. When Jukka´s coupster is leave my garage (December, I can concentrate on this own 1932 roadster. I bought car 7/2020 from Upland CA. Aulis
Engine will be 59A block which has been bored and stroked to size 296cid (3.375" bore, 4.125" stroke). Merc 4" crank (grinded eccentric to 4.125"), blueprinted rods, Ross pistons, total seal rings. Navarro heads, 2 x 2bbl, vertex magneto, auliz -alum.oilpan, maybe use winfield race cam etc.
I and Oskar removed 1937 21bolt engine, not good for me. I sold it. Windshield frame was 2" chopped. I was chop it 1" more, sand and polished it. Now ready for crome coating. I send it and draglink parts to Sweden , DalaKrom. Upper stachions are made by stainless steel. I chop those, fixed and polished.

I was old, when Oskar born 2010. Nowadays not need anymore nice tittle, career in dayjob, so I have time to play with him. Only small difference is size of toys.... Good think, if he learn basic skills for his life (rebuilt small things, fix, maintenance, weld, trouble shooting...). Now a days most of 20-35y old young are "handless". Aulis
Great project! Just be aware that bolting the early flathead block to an engine stand by the bellhousing is risky... they have been known to break. After seeing pictures of the mess after it happened to someone else I added some support to the front of my block while it was on the stand.
Thank You Sirs. Sunday we just relax. Today I continue after headman of house is bicycle to the school. Still must work with Jukka´s coupster even I cant wait when can work daily with this roadster. Maybe today I pack and ship those sanded and polished parts to crome company, Sweden. Blocks. Im not sure, I bought those from US. Both look good. Not painted block has been bored and honed 3.375", crank is grinded and runners made big. Still missing some parts (piston rings,...). 1/2021 I can leave crank to balancing when have those few missing parts. Red block need to install two sleeve. I do not have any flathead sleeve on stock, but I can buy those tractor sleeves (made in UK) from here tractor parts companies. I think, I keep it that 239 +060 size, because not any ridge. I made that engine for sale, so can pay roadster building like that.... I have "crank front support" wood. I use that when I install crank, pistons..... I know that people are worried about this way to hang up engine. Rgds,Aulis
Yesterday few hours I started to work with hood tops and press lathe cups for taillights. Oskar (10y) has get his first "wristband", which means that he is within this project. aulis
I really like that you have done so far,it will be interesting to see what you have planned for the hood.
Today I made, using bigger lathe, (metal spinning) those cups. Will use two of those with taillights. Hub bolts need to press off and made new 5 x 4 1/4" Bolt Circle. I want to use those 17" artillery wheels. This nice parachute come from UK (RAF stuff. Royal Air Force). Made 4th of May 1966 three days before I was born. Aulis

Thank You Sir. Today, I had "offical" P-51 Roadster project starting day. I removed roadster seat frame and riser. started to made cardboard models for interior panels. Panel behind seats and panels sides of seats are ready. Started to weld body. I want to remove panel between cabin and trunk lid and panel between traunk lid and fuel tank. I want that those both panels are bolt on, not welded. Better to paint and made something changes, when panels are removable. Tomorrow morning I continue welding and cutting same area where I worked today. Aulis
Earlier Brookville bodies were well welded. . Now a days.....Hmmm... weldes is blind or drunk. My 10y old son weld better. I started to fix and reweld all. few pics from upper part of body. Aulis
Now I have very much free space to built this car after I drive Jukka´s race coupster out. Rest of winter I built this car. Today I put together Torin Big Red 20ton hydraulic press, made small garage cleaning, change oil to my aircompressor and welded roadster body. Panel between cabin and trunk lid corners and sides are rewelded. I buy every year some new handtools or machine. This year dimple dies and hydraulic press. Next I must press off all wheel studs. After that I must drive 15miles away from here to my friends place and made there new bolt circle holes (4 1/4 BC). Also removed plannishing hammer and bolte on louvers tools. I have made all so that those fit same brackets. Tomorrow morning I press some old style roundback louvers. Yesterday Oskar and I made some plans what rear panel would look like..... "plan B". Result can be different,.... Aulis
Great craftmanship!!-----Nice work!---Especially working with your son, my son helped me to rebuild my roadster in the 1960's, where I could teach him too. Now that he is 63 I have given him my roadster to enjoy as I have for 300,000 miles of line chasing.
thanks. Nice to hear all that. 60´s and 1932 roadster !!! that is real vintage , real hot rodding. Im from Finland. Im not sure if I know him. I was sold, +10years, Hot Rod parts in Sweden. They have very much big American Car meetings, Swapmeets there. Sweden is located "middle" .Easy to travel there from here and other countries (Norway, Danmark, Germany,...) Aulis
