History Shoeboxs anyone?

Well I'm jumping every where lincoln to thunderbird thunderbird to chevy and now chevy to shoebox. Any pics of early 50s and 60s shoeboxes. I got 3 years until i get my license

Here's mine...Before and after. Been on the road in this form since 2012...painted in my driveway (temporarily) 8 years ago. I drive the crap outta this thing.

 

(Almost) a stocker.

 

Shoeboxes have nice clean lines and lend themselves to a lot of different custom choices. I've kind of lusted after the shoebox look for years and finally found the right one after a fairly long search. I hope you find the right one to have your way with.

 

Nothing fancy just a car to enjoy

I say “Go Young Man”.
Just some advice

Don’t look at a potential car with rose colored glasses on. Find a complete car/truck. Even if it doesn’t run, learn how to make it run. Then make sure it can stop. After the in and out of the work area and the vehicle can start and stop, get into the wiring and make sure anything suspect is repaired or replaced.
Once you have a safe and somewhat reliable vehicle you can drive it. Now before you put much mileage on it, like after a trip around the block, get into the suspension. See what should be addressed. Bushings, steering, on and on.
Once you have a road worthy vehicle, you can start to enjoy it.

After that weekend of work....you can start looking at what you want to change about it.

What I’m getting at is don’t buy a pile of parts and try to piece the puzzle together. This ( for the most of us) is a hobby, don’t make it a job.
My last word of advice would be whatever you wind up with make sure you can get it titled in your name before anything, if say a deal dropped in your lap tomorrow and you went balls to the walls and spent time and money to get it going, the try to get it legal with paperwork and get shut down, you’ve wasted all your effort and money

Okay, one more word. Have someone who’s been around the block help out with looking at vehicles.

Some people can really muck up a perfectly good car, so I was told..

 

I bought a 50 Meteor (Canadian mix between a 50 Ford and 49 merc grill) to cut up/part out a year ago. Got the front end going up on my garage wall when I get it done, making the dash into my garage radio right now (yes I'll post pics when I'm done) Neat, fun cars.

Here's mine in dad's driveway yesterday. Snuck her out for one last cruise after saying she was tucked in for the winter. Woke up this morning snow so I'm glad we did.

Can't go wrong with a shoebox. Lots of parts, easy to find. Easy car to work on. Get one with the flathead. Nothin sounds like a flathead...

We should do a meet up n cruise next summer Pete.... We'll cruise the shoeboxes to the lake then cruise the woody a bit and lighten a cooler...

Here's one I did and sold awhile back, chopped 4". I owned it for 14 years. Put 32 K miles on it.

 

That's nice. I've been rolling around the idea of chopping and bagging, but I figured by the time I do that I could be halfway into another rod miney wise. So the box sits lowered as is, and that cash will go toward another one! Lol...

I do dig the chop tho.... Sexy.

 

These are one of those cars that really look better as a 4-door.
