Technical Speedometer angle drive

Hi
I'd like to know if anybody who fitted a later dash in a 1928/29 Ford with original tank used an angle drive for the speedo.
It's really tight with the cable..
Any idea where to buy this?

Yes, 39 ford torque tube to 1948 truck speedo. I'll see if I can find photo.

 

I am using one on my 29 roadster with a 1933 speedo in a 36 dashboard. The gas tank is uncut so it can be used .

Yours are more period correct

 

We got ours from Texas industrial electric. 36 dash in a 28 tudor with stock gas tank , we still had to relieve the tank ,maybe 1/2” for clearance but all depends on where you set the dash . http://www.texasindustrialelectric.com/speedo.asp

May not be help,? ::but my A is powered by Ford "Y" v8 292 w/1957 /3 speed standard, using a >stock 1928 dash speed-O,so "A" cable housing for about 3 feet,an in to the 1957 cable housing coming from tranny tail shaft{ made my own drive inter cable from a replace kit,an outer housings are spliced to gether with gas line hose an small clamps..
Stock "A" speed-o only goes up to 80,but thats enough an just stops if your over that.
27.5 high rear tires an 3.0 rear{ I don't know count on plastic tailshaft gear,} speed readings only 1 mph off at 50mph< just worked out,was just going find an remember to+ or - mph if it was wrong,but freeky to close,so no need.= checked first by other car,but did a few years ago by gps now days.
For a number of years I used painted dots on my tach dial=at 10 mph spots> tell me speed in high gear,so didn't need to hook up speed-o.. I guess in our new zombie phone land,ya can just read speed off phone gps.

 

I'm thinking that the threads for the cable are the pretty much standard 5/8-18 and there a lot of right angle drive adapters out there including this one . https://www.summitracing.com/parts/...standard 5/8 in. thread-on speedometer cables.

 

39 and 40 Ford speedometers use a 3/4-20 inverted nut. Texas industrial electric as mentioned above is the only place I know that has them. They tooled up and made the fittings to work on existing 90 degree adapters made by Reliance. They are not cheap but good quality and fits the bill.
