I agree that the roads around Peo. Co. are in pretty sad shape. Looking at the fracture pattern on that shock eye though, you can see it’s been cracked for awhile and hanging on one side by a hair (evidenced by the rust on part of the fracture surface and the shape and grain of the recent failure. Might be good for someone to lay eyes on the other side to make sure it doesn’t show a similar crack.
Holden MO. right? Been there and done that. Why that's just off the road is beyond me? The creepy part is some of the tombs are broken open and there is a pad lock on the gate. Are they trying to keep what's outside, out, or are they trying to keep what's inside in?
Miller Mausoleum - kids used to break in to there all the time, and at one point there was a big hideous chain link fence around it. Didn't work...some people have no class. There was talk a few years ago about rebuilding it and opening it for tours.
Just passing through. I just started heading west wit no real route, changed my mind a few times too.
Thanks for sharing these pictures! Road trips like this are one of the best parts of hot rodding in my book.
I gotta ask, how did you get to drive the old truck? does it still belong to Jittery Jake or someone else? HRP
Always nice to see old hot rods doing these big drives. The country looks damn good from behind a flat windshield as you say. Cheers.
What was that Miller building used for? Seems a bit elaborate. (This is what happens when you don't read all the posts before asking a question...LOL)
I had a chance to buy the original chassis from that here years ago. I have been collecting parts for a long time.
Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app[/ You made me jealous, I’ve been wanting to take a long cruise for awhile now. I’m moving it up on the bucket list for sure. I like hitting shows that are a good jaunt but when you get there it’s just another parking lot. My car show presence has been declining for quite some time. Nice truck! The 28-29 are my favorite and at least around here you don’t see many.
Nice! I didn't catch it until I read your comment, Ken should like that picture. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I said HAD! hahahaha, no, it came at a bad time for fun money. It may still be stashed in the same place? I have not talked to my pal in a long time.
Always my favorite Hot Rod truck. Only vehicle I have ever wanted to duplicate, but I just don’t fit in one.
Absolutely the best way to journey - I assume you're making sure you avoid larger cities, too. I always seem to be in a big hurry and rush from point A to point B; that's why I drive a M6! Maybe someday I can break myself of that habit. Living vicariously through other people's journey's...
