Hot Rods 28/29 or 30/31 FORD ~ WHICH BODY STYLE DOES IT FOR YOU?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Oct 14, 2020.

  1. I realize it's a personal preference thing but I like the 28/29 Model A's because of the shorter radiator shell and smaller hood, I also love the way the front fenders wrap around the front tires.

The 30/31 Model A's also make great looking hot rods and I wouldn't turn one down, just not my first choice, but Fellow Hamber Ron Brown's Model A makes a strong case for this Model. HRP

    30-31 coupes, roadsters,sedans, and trucks.
Don't like the cowl on the 28-29.
And I know it's overdone, but I prefer the 32 grill-shell on them

28/29 the shell is better and the cowl has more character.
Looks great when you fill in the gas tank seam on the side

No preference at all, the only reason mine is a 30 is because it's the first coupe I found that ticked the right boxes.

Never been huge on the "A" models but those 28/29 fenders are the ginchiest arent they!

I have always wanted a 31 Deluxe Phaeton (rare as). Have owned a 30 coupe in the past.

  11. I always liked the looks of the '28-29 better in the sedan body, but for practicality the '30-31 is a better choice.

^^^ Exactly! More room in the '30s, the '28-9s are just a slightly enlarged 'T'!

    ...But they sure are pretty...

28-29 for coupe or roadster. Love the look of the lower cowl.

  14. I like 30/31's more than 28/29's. Still would be happy with either. Main reason I like the 30/31 more was they were closer to looking like a 32.

Ive had both. I always liked 30 31 best especially for the closed cars. But then I bought my stocker 29 roadster and fell in love. The body styling really feels early. Its like blonde, brunette or red head ya know. Theyre all awesome

I love all early Fords but hands down I just really love model As. If I could only own one old car it would be an A. 20201002_084917_HDR.jpg

I had a 29 sedan and a 31 coupe hiboy. Liked the sedan better. Only trouble, the older I got, the smaller the interior became

Always preferred the 28-29. I think it is the grill shell / cowl on the early “A” that I like better.

Hell, I'd have to see them side by side and somebody tell me which was which because I can't tell. All I know is they are "A"s and they look good with 32 grilles on them!

Both, my avatar was a 28, have a 29 coupe the same body style, had a 30 pickup and just finishing a 30 Sport Coupe A V8. My preference is I like the 30-31 pickups better, rounder cab looks better to me and has a little more room, I like the smaller cowl on the 28-29 coupes and sedans. I've had a 28 coupe, 29 coupe, 30 pickup and 30 Sport coupe and like them all. ark073.jpg shop2r.jpg IMG_0382.jpg running.jpg

Like them both, but I have a ‘29! Love the way the front fender seems to wrap around the tire and the swoop at bottom of the cowl. A little photo chop as an example. FBC6F0D8-F436-4327-9602-4B10EF7E5E5D.jpeg

I am a 28/29 Model A guy thru and thru, but I got to say nothing beats a 30 Coupe on 32 rails or a 31 Fordor as a hot rod.
The 30 pickup cab is too small for my liking and I've never been much of a fan of Victoria's or Sport Coupes, although I have total respect for any vehicle done right...
