Just thought of a funny incident as Dick & I were leaving Phoenix Az. early in the am to escape the heat on way back to L.A. from NSRA event. Dick was leading about 50 yds. ahead when I saw him swerve a little & then a burst of feathers! I called him on the CB & he replied "Damn birds"!! Seems as tho his cowl vent was open (no screen) & a dove hit the opening squarely & landed at his feet!! Then he reached down, grabbed the dead dove & moved on!!
Yes, we had many exciting adventures & lots of fun years ago!

The red phaeton is the John Siroonian deuce. I last saw it in the Justice Bros. Museum.

  11. How do you tell the difference? I know the steering is right hand but what are the other differences? HRP

LOTS more wood in an Aussie body.

  13. Rear of American body is one piece and smooth, Australian body has two ribs, body was probably stamped in three separate pieces.

Other way round Mick. American body has the ribs like the Model A , Aussie body is smooth one piece. There are probably more Aussie 32 Phaetons in the US than original US models. There wasn't any interest in them here in the early 60's and it wasn't until Scritch contacted Eddie Ford (of Aussie Custom Rodder Magazine) looking for one that we suddenly thought that maybe we should start collecting them.
    I know of 4 Aussie Phaetons that got shipped to the US in the 60's, 2 32's, a 29 A and a 34.

  15. Well, I am a bit backwards. At least I knew there was a difference Thanks for getting me turned around.

That red one of Johns was found by Jim Lattin in the jungle on Maui in the early 1970's .It was so rusty that he pulled it apart with his bare hands and got a washing machine box to ship it back to Calif where it was built as a driver by a guy named "Fat Mike".John got it from Mike and redid the car into what it is today.

  20. Am I correct in my thinking that the Brookville Phaeton is based on the cars that were produced in the United States. HRP

  21. To me, with a deuce phaeton, the color really doesn't matter, they look classy no matter what color you paint them. I just wish there were a bunch of 2 doors made.:(

Brookville built the 2 door tub with the 3 window style doors, but a few years ago they had a partial 4 door stock type tub at the LARS. I'm not sure if it was a prototype for future development or just a one off?

  24. They called the 2 door body a phantom, from what I remember it was designed by Chip Foose,

I personally prefer the original version. HRP

I read recently about Dick Schritchfield's car. It came from Eddie Ford here in Castlemaine area many decades ago.
