Hot Rods Pretty Cool 32, Or at least I think so !!!!

Finished in black and i love it.

 

Quality fabrication, is a required skill I'm truly respectful of, this is a fine example of that.

I don't understand the criticism from supposed Hot Rod and Custom aficionados. Guys have been cutting up cars for ever, and we've seen some pretty crazy stuff. It's not sacred. I think that if this car was built decades ago and now resurrected, the perspective might be different. We'd be like... oh wow, the awesome Joe Schmo sedan!

It's just what you do when you have a '32 sedan with no doors & you also have a pair of '33-4 doors with no home

 

I don’t see a darn thing wrong with putting 34 doors on a 32. Someone said that it didn’t flow but I think it adds to the flow.

What I don’t like is the structure, of the unfilled roof supporting the top of the hinge post. IMO it definitely needs some secret substructure.

The doors are not 33 or 34, they are 1932 doors that have been heavily modified, like I said originally the metal work and execution is second to none, the man has mad skills, but I have been sold on the stock 32 body since I bought my first 32 at 12 years old. HRP

 

Well I clearly missed that fact!

I’m not really a Ford guy as I’ve only owned a few FOMOCO products. Well six actually, but far in the minority.

That of course probably has more to do with not being able to buy the particular Fords that I wanted, rather than any other factor.

Unlimited finances were not one of my problems growing up.

 

Nor mine, when I was a kid in rural South Carolina we were dirt poor but I went to work at a chick farm when I was 8 years old, if was to have anything I had to work.

over the years I worked hard, sold cars and parts and set my goals for what I wanted, I worked two jobs most of my life, one supported my family and the other gave me some mad money. HRP

@redo32...thanks for sharing the Builders details...I was able to download a few pics to highlight this highly capable Builders craft and appreciation for vintage inspired Hotrod and more...

He would be certainly appreciated as a Member and perhaps he is...High Praise Shaun...

I suspect this Fabricator makes many a happy Hotrod/Custom lovers jaw drop...I'll take one of each...

 

Putting a '32 grill on "33/"34...
... the hard way.

One small critique from me.
... as if I'm entitled.
Especially considering his metalworking abilities, I might have guessed that he was gonna maybe build a custom slanted grill, too. Maybe a combination of '32 and '33/"34. Kind of a '32 shape on top and '33/'34 on the bottom.

But then it REALLY wouldn't look like a '32 anymore.

 

I was curious about that direction but the initial pics made it clear a modded 32 shell was in place...I sometimes look at these as prototypical offerings that were 1 offs that never saw production and a Hotrodder or Customizer got their hands on it...Drawing the Line on where to stop is an Art and a fine line...this builder has that in my opinion.

 

This is still a hot rod and custom site isn't it? I mean it's about changes and modifications and this one looks just fine to this old man. I didn't realize there were so many hard nosed purists in our midst.
I'm anxious to see what grill shell he wants to use. I say Press On Regardless and keep the quality up.

 

That´s a very elegant art deco interpretation of a 32 like it may have/ could have/ should have come from the factory- just not another 1-800- brookville 32 trad rod. I think the workmanship and creativity are pretty amazing. But I also have to admit that I always liked 33/34s better than 32s anyway.

 

I like it and the metal skills are amazing!

I posted pics from Shaun's site in Post #43 a few above your post that clearly highlight the Grille direction and more...quality is clearly High Bar as evidenced by his workmanship...furthermore it's even a plausible vintage inspiration minus the modern tooling involved in this build...

This is why I'm building roadsters. No windows and roof to worry about.

 

The firewall needs to be changed to follow the shape of the door. To make it look right you'd also need to change the hood and the grill shell to match, which means after much hard work and effort it would look like a '33 nose on a 32 sedan.
By the way, the builder should be commended, it is rare for someone to have both the ability to envision the desired improvements and the technical expertise to make those changes a reality.

 

...Like this...seems to be complimentary...in fact Shaun's build was perhaps a 3 Window melding with a Tudor and I believe some referenced that versus a 33/34

just thought that I would bring attention back to the purpose of this thread......

I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be done to a ‘30/‘31 Model A.
fwiw; I also like it, although not sure it fits in the parameters of this forum.

And it proves that not every thing has been done to a ‘32........
.

 

Now I appreciate that this is only a forced completion by @Stogy of my build I started over five years ago. It isn’t a perfect insight to how my thirty two four will appear when finished. I am a nerd for the lines too like how the real exhaust pipes will flow from the initial curve of the frame reveal below the cowl when the car is on the road. The window openings aren’t exact either but close.
Although I think the doors leading edge is cool it just doesn’t seem to me significant enough to merit all this hubbabaloo? In a dark monochromatic paint finish like black do you think at speed a passerby would chyme in “what a failure, lines are all wrong”?

the theme of hate for this cool car comes from the HAMB parrot club. lots of members but they don't realize they belong to the club at all. it is an interesting aspect of the human condition and happens here all the time. the replies will have a common theme like this until someone who thinks for themselves comes along and rocks the boat, then it is safe for others to voice an opinion other than the majority.

it happens here all the fucking time. people want to be accepted and go along with the crowd.

I met that guy once about 25 years ago when I was visiting a buddy in Oregon. I remember the truck in the background.... are these recent pictures?
