A quarter mile or so off of the real "Thunder Road" near Maynardville Tn. is Knoxville Dragstrip, today 9/26/2020 they hosted a Southeast Gassers event. This had to be one of the highest attended events ever at that venue with thousands of spectators and over 80 period correct 60's style gassers. here are a few of my favorite Hamb friendly photos. 20200926_175651.jpg 20200926_163621.jpg 20200926_155518.jpg 20200926_154838.jpg 20200926_163007.jpg 20200926_162028.jpg 20200926_155714.jpg 20200926_155551.jpg 20200926_173828.jpg 20200926_173939.jpg 20200926_202627.jpg 20200926_154720.jpg 20200926_175857.jpg 20200926_180701.jpg 20200926_173704.jpg 20200926_180015.jpg 20200926_175927.jpg

  3. Lucky Duck! I would have loved to have been there. I caught my first SEGA race at Lyons Indiana this year. Best racing I’ve ever seen. Thanks for the pictures.

  4. WOW! Great turnout with some really nice cars. Thanks, Gary, for taking the time to post up the pics. Looks like folks had a fun time in the East Tennessee sunshine..........Don.

What a great looking bunch of race cars. I like the “Odd Rod” pickup, is there a build thread or info on it somewhere?

I'm not aware of a build thread on the "Odd Rod" but it appears to be a late 40's /early 50's F 100 Ford cab with 1941 Chevy car fenders, hood, and grille skillfully grafted on. I'm not positive about the rear fenders and bed but they look like Chevy.

Glad you enjoyed the event and we will we back there next year if we can find more spectator parking. We may have to rent a place then shuttle the spectator in. It's a good problem to have.
