    Howdy, y’all,

I did a search beforehand, so forgive me if it’s already been answered/beaten to death:

I’m assembling an early Ford manual synchro trans. I’ve read Lubriplate being recommended, but I was wondering if there is anything to be said for, or against using redline assembly lube inside a transmission?

    Thanks

Just use 90w or whatever your going to fill trans with.

The instructions I’ve been following says to use grease at a few points during assembly while dry to keep shims in place, or assist assembly in other ways.
But do you have any idea about the use of redline assembly lube specifically?

If it makes you feel better, use it ... but you're wasting it.

How so? Not needed? Use Lubriplate as indicated, or something else, or nothing? It’s not about my feelings on the matter, it’s a question of efficacy. It’s not not I’m emotionally invested in using it. It’s a technical question.

If you need to hold shims or needle bearings use a small amount of non fiber grease. Remember to use a Gl4 oil as Gl5 will have an adverse effect on yellow metal.

As soon as the clutch gear turns half a dozen revolutions, everything inside the trans is lubed
