  1. Just was thinking about him the other night - is his area safe from the fires or has any one talked/checked in with him ?

I think damn near the entire West Coast is on fire. Hope everyone in the path of wild fires heads the warnings and gets out when told. Stuff is in reality just stuff and can be replaced but your life is another matter all together.

As far as I know, there is no fire immediately near him, this time.

The air quality, and light, are another story. PXL_20200909_164155412.MP.jpeg

Smoke is thick as thieves here in Atwater... Wife Joey and I returned from Dr's app't at 9:00 A.M., house was smoky inside! Highway 99 looked like a dust storm...
(cooler temp last night, looked clear, so we left windows open) We're 66 miles due North of Fresno, and the 'Creek fire' is 0% contained. So...New reports hourly.
Calif. is looking like a Cheech & Chong movie.

Neither. It is a "newcomers desecrate street art" story. The mural used to be on the left side of the building, and pointed at that tree.

The new building owners cut the siding with the mural off, and moved it there, so they could lease the wall for a now-obsolete cell phone repeater.

  14. I can’t imagine the hardships and anxiety you guys are going through. Wish I could send ya’ll some of the rain we have been getting. This has been the wettest summer I have ever seen here on the East Coast.

I am afraid that the rain will bring a different kind of fresh hell.

Mudslides. With the vegetation destroyed, nothing is there to hold the soil.

Isn't that just normal for Cali? I think I've been hearing about that cycle at least 40 years. I know it has to suck for y'all. Beautiful country until the fires and mudslides happen. I guess everywhere has it's natural disasters.....

Yes, but as Stan Back points out:

Things have changed, and they changed fast and hard. There is no way for the population to compensate.

Yeh, it's really heavy over here, saw the neighbor girl picking cucumbers with a full shield respirator on.

At least in California the fire disasters won't be followed by plagues of mice or cane toads or other assorted screwball pests like seems to happen in Australia.

Nothing normal about this fire season. Over 3 million acres burned and it's just the start of the fire season.

I wasn't saying this season was normal. What I was getting at was it seems like an annual thing, first the fires, then when the rains do come, mudslides. I was listening to a radio program on Radio Classics on XM that was recorded in the 1950's and they were talking about the fires back then. I guess it's just part of nature for fires in that area, just like other areas get tornados and some get blizzards. We can't control the weather or climate, no matter how hard some try.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all affected in these areas. Sad to work all your life to build something and nature destroy it in minutes.

Don't bring that here. That is how you get warnings, and get your content deleted.
