  1. It's seems like people can't grasp the concept of engine displacement. They think 289 is a model number or sometheing.

  2. Sometimes I skip to the modified Cubic Inch to save some trouble. It's a 299ci Studebaker V8. (+0.060 - 289)

  3. Sometimes my ‘29 Sedan is a roadster to some people. I just say yes cause I’m tired of explaining.

True. But somewhere online there's a lawyer's forum talking about how car guys think roe VS wade are swimming options, or a literature forum where they say we think Moby Dick is a venerial disease.... Lol. Different strikes for different folks! :);)

If four ignorami gather around your car and insist it's a hemi, does that mean they're right, since they outvote you?

I built a Gibbon fiberglass 5W similar to my avatar 25 years ago. A couple old guys came up to it at a car cruise. One of them rapped on the body, and turns to his buddy and says "Yup, it's steel!" Fast forward to today, and I built another 5W coupe. (my avatar) This time it's a United Pacific steel car. This guy at a cruise taps on the body. Gives me a "sad eye" look and says "It's a shame it's glass, if it was steel, I was gonna try to buy it from ya!"

So when they say my car reminds them of Doc, I know they mean it as a compliment

  10. Wow, where did you buy that?

    I didn't buy it, I built it.

No, seriously, where can I buy one?

They don't come from vending machines. You have to build them.

walking away shaking their heads like you are just being difficult for the fun of it...

    WHY BE ORDINARY ?

Guy: " hell yea, sounds fast, how fast does it go?"

Guy: "yea, thats what I thought, that is bad ass"

Stopped to get gas in my '39 Chev coupe the other day, and guy gassing his van says, "That sure is a cool '49 Chev!" What the heck? I politely told him he missed it by a decade, and he seemed very embarrassed. Glad I wasn't too brutal on him.

Today at Donut Derelicts there was an excellent 1956 Ford Thunderbird in a sage green. Not a color I would like but a nice car. On the dash was a printed out sheet very well done with a few words about it. He wrote the sage green one were only made for 2 weeks in the spring and this one was the only one with a continental kit. I’m assuming he’s never seen another 56 Bird as the all had connies on them. Just chucked to myself and wonder where they get these ideas...

  19. Went through about six El Caminos and Rancheros in my younger years, (still love them) and the most common question was:"is that a car or a truck ?" Fact was, I had seen them registered both ways, so really didn't have a definitive answer...

Just a couple weeks ago at cruisin the coast, my 56 dodge royal with a 315 poly got called a Studebaker twice. Then there was these 2 guys approaching the car and one says to the other "I bet it's got a hemi" they get to the open hood and he says "yep".
But my favorite was this guy who came up and said "I used to have a Packard just like this" he walked around the car some more and said "exactly like this" all the emblems are still on the car.... it's got dodge all over it.
I just smiled and was polite to everyone. 20201006_144704_copy_1008x756.jpg
