Remember the Crusty Flatty? remember how sketchy it was? If not check the videos. Well The VHRA run the GOW! event at Prescott hill climb track every year and I entered the 33 coupe. Watch, listen and follow along as the Crusty Flatty takes on the venerable hill at Prescott, home of the Bugatti owner's club. Caution this video contains scenes of a flathead enduring considerable distress. Back to the regular programme next time.

Thanks for posting this Mart. I am really impressed with the number of cars that attended. I'm prejudiced in favor of these types of cars, so this was a good watch for me. With essentially nothing happening over here, I guess I'll have to be satisfied getting my thrills vicariously.

  4. A fine time had by all - although one of my rods has got a little over excited about being cooped up for so long and wants to be let out for a bit of attention.

Maybe someone will reply to your questions.

I was intrigued to see almost all of those rods were left hand drive.
England, (assuming that is where the event was) is a right hand drive country, suggesting that almost all of those cars are later imports from the states or Canada.
Ford had their own factory in England in the early ‘30s, so I am assuming American /Canadian Fords were virtually non existent or extremely rare.
    Some history would be interesting.

Mart ; - Awesome event and great coverage, thanks.

  23. That old Crusty worked great,,,excellent video .
Remember though,,,,,there were almost no new parts in that rebuild ,,.,,don’t press it beyond its limits please .
Beautiful looking country side,,,,with a ton of great old hot rods !
Left hand drive even,,,,,there must be a lot of old iron in England,,,,,I’m impressed !
The Crusty ran great,,,,,,and you did an excellent job of driving !
I would love to see more of this .

    Tommy

Yes, the majority of these would have been imported, but in many cases as parts and pieced together as full on projects. What few early fords we had were wiped out on the stock car tracks in the late 50s.

Thanks for the replies fellas. This video nearly never happened. I was transferring the files from the sd card to the computer and something went wrong during the transfer. All the files got corrupted. Then in an attempt to recover them by running scripts picked up off the internet they disappeared completely. I downloaded some recovery software and tried it on one file, that was all you could do for free. It didn't work. I then found one that had good reviews and paid for it. That one worked and recovered all the files on the card, even those that were there before but had been "deleted".
I then started having problems with the editing software where the files were supposed to be, like, 14 minutes long, and were showing as 22 hours long with the rest being blank. The length of the files slowed everything to a standstill.
This took ages to sort out by various workarounds and updating softwares etc.

But it was all worth it in the end. The views on this one have been much higher than normal, over 1000 views in 24 hours. Personally it's one of my favourites. Something must have clicked with YouTube's algorithms, most of the views have been from browsing rather than links from forums.

Again, thanks for the support. It's not easy putting these videos together and sometimes it's a lot more difficult than normal, so a little thumbs up or words of encouragement go a long way.

    Mart.

Thanks Mart. Going from building a flathead to recovering lost video files. You're a real Renaissance man.

The cars are , by and large, old jalopies that were passed over in the States and were built into Hotrods over here. The LHD is no problem.. I’ve had quite a few over the years and it really doesn’t cause any issues... To refer to it as. a hobby over here is an understatement.... it’s a way of life .
