Fred, Frank says about 70mph is top speed. Pretty good for a single cylinder engine pushing 4 wheels. He says the cars does really well at Montlhery but is dangerous at the Nurburgring.

Doesn't really look like a car to drive on a snowy day.

If you were asking about the BL&M, they were based in Long Island, NY and were defunct by 1908. Hupp was based in Detroit and started production in 1909. Although they were similar in wheelbase, the BL&M is considerably lower.

    Hello, Fred,
Kids, probably - NOT: they wouldn't be interested in something like that...
Adults, especially seniors: probably - YES!

Shown are a few examples of so-called CycleKarts, scaled-down replicas of GP-racer from the vintage era, or whatever else interesting oldtimer used as inspiration... Engines: honda 200 and its clones, 6.5 Hp. CVT-TAV belt variable transmission, Honda moped 17" wheels or clones... Speeds up to 40 mph ~ 65 km/hour...
They are "invented" almost 20 years ago by the Stevenson family and their friends in California... Vehicles are a mixture of cyclecars and go-kart components, in the spirit of oldtimer-years, no plans, no professionally built kit-completes or finished cars...

I would be satisfied with something simpler, as shown above, graduated soap-box back-yard-built racer, known often as "father & son projects" from the forties-fifties (American technical magazines, often reprinted in the Yugoslavian magazine "Savremena Tehnika" - modern technique): motorised with a small engine. My dream was to developed my soap-box kart into something like that, with Tomos moped engine and gear-box...
Never happened! No money, no tools, no material and components, no working space, no understanding and supportive family for something crazy as that dream/plan was...

    Ciao, Zoran

Yes, Zoran. It is '50's kids that are doing the Cyclekarts today. I hope to get back to doing that. I have the engine, front axle and wheels. There is a guy in Arizona that is selling "ready to run" cyclekarts, or was selling them. I stopped following that when I got busy with 3 wheelers.
I got all the boys out together for the first time on Saturday.

I've always liked this winter photo ever sine I saw it in a Christmas gift book back in the 1960s, some how thought it was the James Melton S.P.O.. SPO_photo_-_a_2C_edited-1.jpg SPO_photo_-_a_2C_edited-1.jpg SPO_photo2_edited-1-1.jpg SPO_photo_-_bf_edited-1-1.jpg

I think the S.P.O. is a little bigger. My Beaulieu Encyclopedia tells me that BL&M was 1906-8 and S.P.O. was 1908-11. Interestingly, the S.P.O. was designed in France as a taxi or towncar, but the ones brought to America received roadster/raceabout bodies.

That car is definitely Pebble Beach worthy. Come to think of it, they really should have a Pebble Beach show for cyclecars, maybe a race nearby.

lack of details just unfortunate, Bob. The badge looks almost intentionally obscured. Grateful for the eye candy at any rate.
