    Kinda rough & ready.. as per usual.. This concept came together this week after I signed on with the 'F*!k up a Forty Ford' scale model contest..
    Grille is '62 Phoenix. Hood will be amended to sectioned original, closing over modular sheet-steel apron.

    This amazing rendering of the car I’m building was hand drawn by Timmy Kaloutsis from Australia. We went to to a collaboration project together. I made him the custom handmade panel below with his logo light up in LED lights, and in return he drew me what I am building in my garage. This is an amazing opportunity to work with him.     LES HAWKINS 96 JR. BEFORE THE 15 OZ. COUPE

    Hello,

    One of our favorite Altered Coupes was the 96 Jr. 5 window coupe of Les Hawkins. His group blazed the local So Cal dragstrips with fast times in the C/Altered coupe class. With 354 Chrysler Hemi injected motor, it was a hard driving Altered Coupe. For all history buffs of drag racing, this set the ground for bigger and faster things to come in the later years. (Version 2)

    It was the Light Blue 96 Jr. Altered Coupe that started it all for the So Cal racing group.

    It was difficult to estimate how much of a chopped top drawing it would take to showcase the actual 7 inch top chop. This coupe had the stance and the aggressive look of the swept back 34 Ford design. They even filled in the grille with an aluminum panel to continue the streamlining from the stock angular grille. No air blockage like a 32 Ford coupe with its upright grille enclosure.

    To add to the style of an Altered Coupe air flow, louvers were added to the roof and rear trunk lid area. This is/was one fast coupe in this stage of development.

    Since the Bonneville era speed runs are still going on this year with Mike Cook’s Bonneville Shootout, wouldn’t be nice to see this light blue Altered Coupe with its modifications, to be scooting down the salt for a high speed run? A front mounted 671 on the Chrysler Hemi motor, perhaps?
