It was nice to finally get out and go to a cruise-in but the rain hurt attendance although it did clear up and there was a lack of pre 64 cars & trucks, and too many of the ones that qualify had big wheels. It was good to see some old friends, it's been a long time since the big cruise-in's from last year. I tried to take some photo's but the way the cars were parked later model off topic cars were in the photo's. HRP I'll start with my pal Dave's pickup, this is the first time locals have seen it and it was well received. HRP
Had to crop these photo's. This Buick belongs to Tony, I've known him for more than 45 years, I bought my Model A project from him back in the 70's.HRP
I had never thought about the engine being under the bed versus in the cab like similar trucks. Moriarty likes Corvairs.
ya, Corvair Vans are very Cool and Sorta Rare. When my dad had passed away in 61 and the mowers would breakdown, before I started spin'in wrench's, my mom would call the mower repair guy, who would drop the Box Side Door down and load um up that way. Even at Eight years old I knew that was Unique and Cool
I had a 48 5-window, black, chrome grille, but not as nice as that one. I see you have/had a 52 Ford. It's cool that they're parked close, for comparison. The Ford probably has a V8 and automatic; the Chevy has a hopped up six and probably a stick (mine had three-on-the-tree). The Chevy looks stock; the Ford has mags, wider radials, and is lowered. Look at the styling differences! The Chevy is very curvy; the Ford has curves and straight lines. Two-piece angled windshield; single flat. The Chevy grille is great; that Ford grille is cool and strange, in a good way. Who designs a grille like that for a truck? It reminds me of those oil-filled portable heaters. The Chevy almost looks a little outdated next to the Ford. But the Chevy looks more like a truck- like a classic farm truck. The Ford reminds me of "Sanford and Son"- more urban. You know what beats both of them? A Hudson Terraplane pickup.
This was the first time I drove my wagon to a event this year thanks to the pandemic cancelling so many we normally attend.
