Welcome to August. A lot less than I hoped for. I planted my feet firmly in mid air when I jumped on this one. Well maybe I can use the 5 speed in the '29 Roadster. IMG_20200717_161136399_HDR.jpeg

I'm here. Posted this on my speedster thread, just to wrap that build up, but I guess I'll post it here too. Just a little morning drive to test out my ridiculous looking but fairly effective head-mounted GoPro.

  9. In response to the conversation concerning rear end suspension; mine is a shortened torque tube, with external radius rods rotating on the frame rails (inline with the universal joint! The geometry of this setup is such that there are two 15 to 20 inch moment arms (crosswise on the frame) on either side of that torque tubes forward universal. , In roll. it places a twisting moment all along the tube as well as the radius rod wanting to bend. Something's gotta give! In a race down at the Coronado NAS it finally broke the flange on the differential housing. This allowed the torque tube to spin around the driveshaft. Quite a fibration with that spinning between my legs! Some of the early race cars like mine were built exactly how Henry's engineers designed'um! NOT MINE! millermaint001_zps2aab5d11 (2017_06_30 15_13_08 UTC).jpg All I can say is be careful!

Re cleaning out a radiator, this particular one was scaled nearly shut at the inlet. Several soaks with CLR and backflushes later I got about a pound of calcium and rust out but ended up with four cells leaking for my trouble...
Hey the receipts that came with the pickup said it cost $216 new when it was installed in 1976!

I am here too. Not much going on in my banger world. working on a gokart for my daughter and hope to get to mechanically freshening up my roadster after we are done painting her Kart. I am truly saddened to hear about the cancellation of the Hill Climb in Colorado. Hate to say it but its probably for the best. Need to Keep everyone healthy so we can see you all there next year.

    Shutter,
It's Longleaf Pine heartwood. We call it lightered down here. Other folks call it fatwood or fat lighter. I have a back door made of Longleaf, and the sun glows through one of the panels if it hits it just right. It's really wonderful stuff. burns like it is soaked with gas.
