Anyone want to take a stab at this one? I have taken care of some mechanicals and think it is about time to start knocking some of the street rod off of it. My idea is to go with a solid (non-metalic) Monsoon or Manderin Maroon eliminating the two tone paint. Also thinking of some cream colored steel wheels with rings and caps.

anyone wish to make a few changes to my Vicky. I would like to see it with clone Halibrand Kideny bean style Knock offs as cast with polished lip not polished wheels. Current wheels are 15 rear 29" tall tire, 14" front 23.5" tall. New wheels will be 16" all four corners 29.5" tall rear, 27.3" tall front. effectively raising the front of the car about 2". It's an old picture. 1.jpg

So I’m getting ready to paint my ‘40 “ old hot rod gold” which is a toned down metallic gloss. (Not quite as dark as
    a bronze)
It will have wide whites in front with flipper caps, and teardrop fender skirts and black walls out back.
Dual spots, chrome center grille, chrome front bumper and dual
6” yellow fog lights on the bumper brackets.
I’m running tri power on the Flathead and have been playing with an old hood too.

    Anyone wanna take a shot? IMG_3463.JPG IMG_3505.JPG
    Thanks!

Well, although i've been on the HAMB a long time i've never dipped my toe in here,
but I've been giving some thoughts into what I can do with my Aussie bodied falcon coupe (65) I've got hot rod projects on the go, so don't' want to go too mad on this one, but I'm thinking a set of 5 spokes & maybe some scallops, but other suggestions would be considered... I don't want to do a full repaint so base colour needs to be the white, we were also planning on a retrim in red... so thinking red scallops or roof - what do you think?

    Thanks in advance!

The wheel picture I added is a Tasman an Aussie made wheel from the 60's. fairly rare in this stud pattern...

Seeing OahuEli's pic of my girlfriend's Chevy (which turned out exactly like the photoshop) reminded me, after seeing this from Madfish

I did end up swapping the wide whites for redlines on the back of my '57 after seeing the picture. I was torn between those and just regular black wall tires but it was good to see it in the pic first.

These Photoshop exercises really do pay off. Sometimes it's a small change, sometimes a big one, and sometimes it shows when an idea isn't as good in real life as it is in your head. But seeing what some change will look like can really make a difference.

I did the roof in red and added a matching spear from a USA '65 Falcon down low. You could use anything similar, of course. I substituted some Cragars for your Aussie 5 spokes as I didn't have a good photo to use, but I'd definitely go with the one you showed. Very cool!

That's extremely off-topic for this board. Looks like a nice car, and I agree it could use a wheel swap, but I think you might be going in the wrong direction if you're wanting a historically-accurate hot rod or custom car look.

  26. You are new today. You get a pass from me.
Bet you didn't check this board's philosophy or fill in an introduction.
I'll give you a distilled understanding.
Rule #1 If it didn't exist before 1965 don't talk about it here.
Rule #2 Pay attention to rule #1
This is what wheels on this board look like.
This board just isn't geared to anything newer than 1965, cars parts etc.
Try reading some posts, you will get the idea.
    Good luck.

Not really, I quickly did a photoshop and emailed it directly to him. No more then we would do for some of you.
It's all part of the game.

  29. I;'m glad he stayed!
I was trying to save him some grief,
was hoping to get him to "get it" about this place,
and make it a little easier!
