  3. [QUOTE="Chappy444, post: 13660238, member: 175596 I heard car rental companies hit you with an extra cleaning fee no matter how good you hose and vac the car before you return it. Anyone with experience shed light on that?
also, aside from the obvious things like cooler, water, sun screen, hat, long pants and shirt, etc anything i should plan on picking up before i attempt to spend the day there?
    thanks.
    Chappy[/QUOTE]

There are "fund raisers" at some of the Wendover gas stations that will clean your car. We did that two years ago, no problems. If you can, get a pop-up tent for shade, much cooler than in the sun. I wore shorts and T-shirt, but you will need sunglasses!

  4. Saw somewhere that it will be very limited.

Canada just extended the border lock down until the end of August, so unfortunately were out. Very disappointing.

I was told that Wendover has some virus. I wonder if that will effect SCTA.

Tman, that's cases in Wendover. Don't forget West Wendover where the casinos are. By the way, the mayor of West Wendover is named Corona. That's encouraging.

Want to but still up in the air... rental cars here are ez to get. Not many cars and 2 courses sound good.. I’m leaning towards Marty’s answer. At 76 I just can’t get sick or possibly take the chance.

Jimmy, I wasn't as concerned about catching the Virus, as having it cancelled, about the time I would arrive. But I should @ almost 72 ! Besides, the Lakester I built is sitting in Adelaide, Australia, waiting for next March !

Sorry Marty guess I miss read, a my age it's just another problem I don't need, still to much to do to get sick.
Thanks for the comment on our 56 Victoria. Too much work and way to much $$$ in it but it's a high school memory from my mother. Suprises a few when the see the NASCAR and law enforcement dual quad option under the hood.

We are thrashing to make it with car and calendars. Calendars are promised for Aug 1, press run was cut in half so when they are gone, they will be gone.
On the roadster we have a list to run through.
And because I am only 66 I should be good, and I only have a few years of racing left and the elusive land speed record might be with-in our grasp.
We will see you all on the salt!

Tony, got my fingers crossed for you. Hopefully Bonneville will be a go with good salt, and your car kicks ass.

In case you haven't seen it, this update is about a week old. Good information.
Be sure to pack extra water, Gatorade, and baloney sandwiches!!!!!

    FROM SCTA:

    SW Update - 7/23/2020

*** UPDATES FROM WENDOVER & WEST WENDOVER ***

As we get closer & closer to Speedweek 2020, we would like to keep you informed of what’s happening in town.
In a message from West Wendover, Nv. Mayor Daniel J. Corona wants to let us know that restrictions on the Nevada side are different from Wendover on the Utah side. Along with masks in public, there are 50% occupancy caps at markets, restaurants & casinos. Bars are currently closed, along with local parks, gathering of no more than 10 people, also social distancing is in place. We would like to thank Mayor Corona for keeping us up to date of the Nevada side. Please remember we are guests in both of these cities and need to be respectful in everything we do there.

We have reached out to Smith’s Foods, who always take care of all our needs at Speedweek. They are looking forward to serving us once again! They have lengthened their hours to help us. (they’ll be open until 11pm). To help them we ask that you shop in off hours, like early morning or in the evening. Remember the residents of both towns here depend on Smith’s for most of their grocery needs. In these “crazy times” there are some items in short supply as you all know. If possible try to bring these items with you. Other than that, they’re ready for business as usual! Of course there are some COVID stipulations just like everywhere else. Masks at all times, social distancing & pretty much just plain old common sense. They do have a store capacity of 264 at a time. They don’t think that will be a problem if we shop during the off hours. They’re doing their best for us so let’s give them our best too!

Stay tuned for more updates as they happen!
