Are there bison down under? I have seen them on the road in the far north of Alberta.

  5. No Bison.

If there is a bison loose down under, he's doin' a Florida kangaroo...

That is great detailed artwork, I remember the fender less '48 sedan. think it was Joe Gatt's.

  9. Thanks Dago88. I like Thursdays/Fridays 'coz I get to do these HAMB subjects, just for kicks. I found a shot in a '65 AHR mag with two chicks and a bloke in a tree at Castlereagh. So yes, I kinda stole it, ran with it. Gals looked so fine & fit in their capri pants & page boys.
I guess it had to be a Gatt car with the black paint. It did have 'Northern Beaches Rod & Custom Club' written down the beltline. Just dig the fact that in those far-off days, it was seen as possibly cool to make an Altered out of a '46 more-door sedan.
I liked hangin' near the Gatt's pit when they made the scene in Adelaide. They were amusing, and always hardcore Ford with cool cars.
I'll try to remember to do an Olds soon. Just for kicks. I was diggin' 'em in an old 'Collectible Auto' mag the other day. I love '54's. Was that your old one with the EH tailights?
Drag strip nostalgia is cool, so I await JNAKI'S WEEKLY POST.

Yes @Spoggie , that was my '54 i have been trying to buy it back with no luck. It is in a shed in Mildura.
I am looking forward to your artwork. Thanks. :)

  11. I wonder what the reaction would be if one of today's customs somehow was able to back in time.

    Hello,

When our granddaughter was staying with us almost 5-6 days a week from 6 months to around 4th grade, we went all over So Cal to see the sights, enjoy the beaches, the playground climbers, and the cool shaded parks for picnic lunches. Of course, what girl (wifey, too) does not like to go shopping for anything at anytime? We had to tone down our buying spree, otherwise, our toddler granddaughter’s toy box, clothes rack and Barbie collection would fill up her tiny closet really fast. But, there was not anything wrong with just going shopping, too.

One day, we were all walking around the Newport fashion island shopping center. They had just instigated a cool water fountain that shot water balls up in the air, while little kids ran from one edge to the other. After spending a good amount of time, we decided to continue on our exploration. It was hot and the shaded center areas were perfect to sit and relax. But, who would have predicted that a cool looking Chevy pick up truck converted to an ice cream truck would be front and center of this shaded area?

Not only did they sell the best ice cream we have tasted in a long while. But, it was the Chevy truck that caught our attention. It had a White Pearl base, Cragar S&S wheels, a cool lowered stance and those bright raspberry purple flames on the hood and fenders. It was a great looking custom, converted, pick up truck.

Upon asking our current teenage granddaughter if she remembered that cool truck, she beamed and said… YES! Not only did she like the great ice cream and our exploration wandering trip, she definitely remembered that cool purple flamed, ice cream truck. She said that those flames were like those that I always drew on everything, including restaurant table tops.

So, I wanted to surprise her in these coming months of “locked in place” and possible “all day- on line, high school learning” with a cool little 1/64 scale version of that long ago memory from our ice cream rest stop at the Fashion Island Center.

  22. Great FAS everyone. ( JNAKI ) I really liked the story about your grandauther. My grandkids Love going for Ice cream too. We don't have the ice cream trucks here. As we live out in the country. Please post a picture of your little Chevy truck when you finish it. Here's an old toy tin truck that I found somewhere years ago. If I can find an artsy photo of the grandkids going for Ice cream in one of the Hot Rods, I'll post it. :)Thanks Ron...... 20200717_080426.jpeg 20200717_080607.jpeg

Last week I posted that college self portrait (thumbnail) and got a lot of interesting comments.
Not much of my college art has survived the years but I did dig out another self portrait from a different Life Drawing class of "Me & my '35".which I drove all through college...when it ran.
I want to thank Dave, @Rot 'n Kustom for cleaning up a little water-damage on the Photoshop thread :D Jack Murphy 01.jpg

Also college related, I ran this ad in Hemmings for about a year ('71-'72) and sold about 300 sets. Not only did they pay for ALL my college (college was cheap back then), I also got college credit for the project. I also wrote the "copy"...was quite a bull-shitter even back then:D 100_4999.jpg
