History Ryan - History of the HAMB?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jul 14, 2020.

  1. I just noticed the the newest member to join is number 1199619, I didn't realize the Hamb has such a gigantic following.

In light of that I would think there is a lot of people unaware of how the message board got started, I joined in 2003 and number 1182 and it had been around a long time before I joined.

Hopefully Ryan can shed some light on his creating of the Jalopy Journal and the Hamb. HRP

    Great question, Danny.
Seriously... I've often wondered about this.
Please tell us, Ryan. How did it start? What was the catalyst? Your motivation? Your first thoughts of it? The obstacles? The victories? The unforeseen struggles? The unexpected surprises... pleasant or not?
You're a good writer and I'm sure we'd all be interested to read it.

  6. Its kind of a cool story. I wish we could tell (in 3 part harmony) about the years that Danny and me first logged on.

  17. ......It's so small, us oldtimers have a tough time reading the numbers. By the way Danny, those reading glasses are pretty reasonably priced at the Dollar Tree and Dollar General stores as well as most drug chains.

I am one of the first 1000.
I remember a message board that you could just post anything, it was in a link section on Mort's Hop Up website,
I think it said " Rodders journal / Jalopy Journal message board" on the header.

We're basically asking Ryan to write his memoirs.
He might need some time. LOL

Cataracts. Yeah, looking forward to getting my eyeballs scraped.
    It works good, though.
After his cataract surgery, I asked 92 year old Albert if he could see better now.
I have to say that he had kind of a high voice and a great spirit. He said "WOW" a lot. It was sometimes almost like listening to a young boy.
    His response was...
WOW!... I can see Capac from here!
Capac was about 5 miles away.
    LOL
