Here’s the Jag Mk9 brass hood trim I got E0EDF7F3-6263-4CC4-90C5-5FBBEA76EC6D.jpeg yesterday for free and the approximate position it will sit. It’s a nearly perfect match in profile for the NOS 39 Packard grill ornament that I scored on ebay.... but it’s yet to arrive after a month or more..... hopefully it will turn up this week.

Rolled up the inner TT section for the windscreen frame. Welded it up and it looks and feels right. I can’t finish the side lower corners till I get the exact body shape finalised. But I’m very happy with the result. I couldn’t resist tapping the mirror stall hole. I forgot how hard Stainless is, it took me half an hour of gently back and forth on the 5/16 tap. 1C91FFB5-53D4-4E70-B463-D6A629104EC6.jpeg F993252A-9048-4445-9E0F-99962BA6FECC.jpeg 351BE689-1055-4BB8-8615-8758E8A7EE99.jpeg 27C1AC64-AEA5-4D02-B35B-B5026FCDC487.jpeg 2C64F96D-5FF5-495A-BC0D-9B61EBE45DE0.jpeg

TIG filler 309L filler for stainless is extremely hard to drill or tap. It works extremely well on cast iron repair but is extremely hard. If you try to drill it to fast you will burn up the drill bit the heat hardens it. I use a carbide tips drill and you can only turn a tap 1/4 turn at a time. Frank

Sunday and I trial fitted a bumper I found on Marketplace. I haggled hard and got it cheap enough that it can sit on the wall if I change my mind. But I think I can make it work. End corners might have to go. You can try and guess what it is. But I like the minimalism compared to th 898A1791-9798-4F19-B023-CEAD6B5E8F38.jpeg e railroad cowplow original.
Also my daughter discovered my NOS 39 hood ornament arrived two weeks prior but no one bothered to tell me.... so my worry was in vain. Found some 40s Packard wipers and Escutcheons in my parts box that should also work perfectly.

Well done guys except for X38 who cheated. The little fins could work too. Back to work Monday. Just discovered my Studebaker CDD50039-C0A6-4E0A-B251-460AEB281238.jpeg Pines Winter front grille that I packed in away one of the Cadillacs. Tried it out out of curiosity ( looks mean) and I may have to make one for when I go on hot rod runs just to confuse everyone.

  13. No. It looks something else.

That’s doesn’t do the car any justice. Some Stupidbaker owner may pay good money for it.

Tig ed it up and can’t wait to have a play with the roof mech soon. The header emulates the front bumper with a little prow on the nose. Can’t wait to pull the roof fabric tight.

I’ve been nervously anticipating mating the header to the top frame. In my head it worked but cutting and shutting the length down and changing the arm configuration and getting it to all fold away and not bunch up was the cause of many sleepless nights.
But early this morning I finally tracked it all together and did a trial run. Perfection. 046A983D-2A3B-4550-B078-3474BF726536.jpeg 7EBF9300-DC94-4406-A002-8774D5AD2DD3.jpeg 45C8EE06-FC63-474B-A8AE-5E0C5C01C830.jpeg

Not sure if I’ll use it but C48BAA82-AB59-45B7-9DD2-6658E7D22619.jpeg may as well restore it.
Missing the arms but I can fabricate them in stainless. Already found a replacement for the knurled knobs.

Been busy working on my mates 53 Eldo. But last night I made up a pair of arms for the trunk rack out of stainless.

Got some smoothing out on the welds and then it can get painted black and I can start attaching the fabric. Can’t wait.
