Wow! Nicely done. It looks fast just sitting there!

  2. Thanks! We hope it actually goes fast as well. I just need to reformulate the game plan and light the fuse.

As much as I like traditional stuff, from a cost perspective I’d consider new small displacement technology. My wife’s new Honda has a 174 hp 1.5 Ltr (91ci) turbo. Might be able to double that or more with a bigger turbo, or twins...

If I’m not mistaken Keith Young and his daughter Katey own this roadster now and it has a Wayne GMC 12 port in it. Not sure if the ever ran it with the GMC but both drove it with a SBC in it. I believe they bought it from Glenn Miller.
It was quite tight with the proper cage in it. Keith is not happy with some of the allowable rules in the vintage engine classes from what I heard a few years ago.

Appreciate the kind comments. Name is Phil Tolley , out of Colorado. All are welcome to come by the pits at Speedweek and say Hi. We pit on the far side, mountain side, as close to the pit entrance as we can. Here's a couple pictures: STP61990.JPG DSC_1499.JPG DSC_1618.JPG

That one had some problems, vision being the main one. Sitting that low, and the scoop I built, to clear the blower and carb on the driver side. I raised the cage a bit, but Jim wanted a new car, hence the RMR/Lakester he runs now. The 27 was a cool looking car though. Lindsay 1.jpg Lindsay 2.jpg

Jim traded the quickchange rear and steering, along with the blown flathead, to a friend that is building a 32 for the Street Roadster class. The rest is hanging on his wall. As far as the RMR, I built this one for him. It's now a Lakester, @ 189" wb. IMG_0683.JPG IMG_3296.JPG

In Post 81, just 2 up from here, see the guy "praising Allah". After 30+ years you learn to just roll the race car back and not hit it with the truck.

The car was fabricated by @craig hoffman at the Markley/Hoffman shop (in Northern California) ... car is currently tucked away in a Southern California shop ... hopefully debuting on the salt in 2021.

Donny is shooting for 350 mph (to best the 307.555 mph A/BFMR record set by Jim Howe in 1991).
