Scotty Mclendon’s race car. He is/was a famous Drag Racer, from central Florida. Has a million cool stories to tell. Hoping to have him at this year's Florida Dragstrip Riot.
Note the Crager Mags. Dammit Man...they must have sold millions of those, back in the day. You can't swing a dead cat, without seeing a 60's car with them on.

 

Was this the car before the MG they ran?

 

I did some research and it said that they started with a 1961 Corvette in 1965. The Corvette in the picture is not a 1961. I bet that it was a typo on the year and this was their first race car.

 

Been watching this thread for ages now, totally dig it. Two weeks ago I picked up a 59 Vette ex drag car. Been in storage 40 years , has radiused rear wheel wells and an olds rear end. PO hacked out dash so I have to replace it. Will post pics next week.

 

I'm looking forward to this one.

 

Dammit!! I don’t know any details but it’s obvious what happened. The owner knows cars(he has a 7 sec race car) So it wasn’t stupidity or neglect. The car was recently put back on the road after 40-50 year nap.

 

WOW that sucks, hopefully no one got hurt.

Update! This Man does not mess around

 

He said he’s going to try like hell to match the paint. I think he said it was painted in 1959. He is quite the painter so i’m sure it look great. I got the first pic yesterday the others today i believe in real time.

 

Not focusing on the hood scoop but I dig the dash!

Well said Moriarity. Wrong site for numbers matching Corvettes. Modified Corvettes are the rule, not the exception.

 

I gave this a "like", not because I dig the car but for the opportunity to see the photos.
Over the top (a bit) and gaudy but that's what guys did. I could live with the interior
for a limited time but the wire wheels call for an immediate change. To each his own.

 

See I was the opposite. I kinda dig the exterior and even the wheels but the interior is to close to an old 80’s Cadillac we once had. Lol

I’m sorry for the damage to that great looking time machine. Fortunately the car is in the right hands based on what you are saying and the owner will make it right. I really like that car.
