I was 15 years old and I had my 5 year old nephew with me standing against the fence leading on one of the those posts that held the fence up in 1964

Friends of mine were going so I begged a ride and then told them I had my sisters 5 year son coming with me.
My buddies said are you going to watch him all day and I said I sure would.

The 56 Mark II was shipped in a special carrier. The cars were bagged in fleece-lined sacks that were suppose to protect them.

3rd grade...Inglewood 3, California looking up in the air watching DC 3’s and 4’s in the pattern over our house to land at Los Angeles International Airport (no LAX back then). A great day was seeing a 3 tailed Lockheed Constellation just out in 1951.

  15. HemiDav Thanks for the pic. A really nice "hood ornament" on that 1962 Cadillac sedan!

How would you like to drive with no outside mirror? Our '40's cars had them and I can't imagine someone buying a car with none.
To answer the question; 2nd grade in '52.
In '59, my parents insisted I take a driving course for the insurance. Even though I had been driving a lot on my learners permit. The driving school used 2 door '52 Fords like that one but with driver's side mirrors.

Any info on this photo? May be in France or the Shakespeare Bugatti collection here in the USA before going back to France in the 1960's. Bob

Vermont today does not look much different than many of the photos that people post.
Maine and New Hampshire are also very much the same in many parts of the state
In many ways it's really nice to see things like they were many years ago.

  23. Hey Kid,
I count 3 Bugattis that are not under tarps.
Probably 3 more that are under traps
I can't believe there could be that many Bugattis in the US
in that condition at the time of that pic.
And the little sedan might be a Simca.
    I would say France.

I was 6 years old visiting my grandfather with my mother. Grandpa worked for the Boston & Maine railroad, driving the diesels around the yard and on and off the turntable, on the night shift. Since we were sleeping over he suggested taking me with him in the locomotives, but my mother was afraid something might happen, so I didn't get to go. He retired in 1953, but I will never forget that night, dreaming what it would have been like !.

Standard advertising deal... no antenna and no outside mirrors and very very few extra options. Never see spot lights, visors, fender skirts, extra bumper guards, etc
Manufacturers didn’t want anything to take away from the model they were showing especially if costs anything more with the exception of white wall tires later in the 50’s. And yes an outside mirror was extra.
