Wanted your opinion. The rocker box is pretty solid, save for a couple of spots. I was thinking since the holes are on the smaller side would I be ok just patching over the holes too help reinforce it? IMG_20200609_112139011.jpeg

Sits a little close to the dash but it looks like I can slide the toe board mount down a few inches IMG_20200615_130807390_HDR.jpeg IMG_20200615_124525506_HDR.jpeg

So back to the body. So I've been adjusting my cuts. The doors seem to fit nice and snug. And I have some gappage around the windshield where the blade went a little cockeyed IMG_20200617_110602940.jpeg IMG_20200617_110624693.jpeg IMG_20200617_110737418.jpeg

  5. What is the clock out of? Similar to my 47, but different.
Keep plugging away at the slicing, dicing, hammering and welding. Looks like you have a plan.

It's from a 42 ford. I found an unused speedo for it on eBay. I think they look so much better than the 47's.

If I can get this welded together and looking like a car by the end of summer I'll be a happy camper

Got the torque converter and the flex plate all together. Had to setup some shelter to keep from frying. IMG_20200619_125950015_HDR.jpeg

  10. I'd highly recommend that you set the seat you're planning on using into place before finalizing the column location. When I got my avatar the PO had about a 1.25" column drop which put the wheel in my lap and this was with a 14" aftermarket wheel; I had to 'tilt' it full up to drive the car... looked like crap. I shortened the drop as much as I could (about 3/4") to get the column closer to the dash, made the difference.

The column is 31" or 32" long and the floor mount can be moved

  14. That OEM power steering pump mount will put the pump under the fender, after you cut a big hole in the inner fender....

I have the same pump on my avatar. When I got the car, the PO had mickey-moused part of the OEM bracket with some home-made crap to tuck it in closer to the motor. This rewarded me with a power steering belt that squealed because the mount flexed, plus the pivot bolt broke several times.

When I did the great fan shroud install on mine (a cluster-f**k in it's own right), I also scratch-built a new pump mount to fix this. I had construction pics, but lost them when my hard drive crashed and burned. Now, what I did won't directly translate to you because I've got a early front cover/water pump and the lower-deck-height 289 block, so the mounting bolt holes are all in different places compared to yours. There may be a commercially-available pump mount for your combo, there isn't for mine, although it will probably be expensive if you find one. My home-made solution is labor-intensive but relatively cheap in terms of material. So I can point you in the right direction if you can't find a mount. Send me a PM if interested...

  15. I made a plate bracket to mount a Saginaw pump on mine last year. Uses the bolt holes on the back of pump to mount, and other end bolts to the head with spacers. The adjusting slot is part of the bracket.

I set the fender assembly on the frame thinking the same thing. The top of the filler neck just clears and I might have to get a 45° on it for some extra clearance. Having a 351 puts my heads over an inch higher than a 289/302.

Started on the welding getting things tacked in place to see how they fit. Does t might need some minor adjustments. Most everything lined up pretty good except by the rear wheel wells where the blade ran away from me a bit. I'm gonna stop for today before I get my self into to much trouble. Everything lined up nicely the doors shut nice, I got one side of the trunk lined up nice. I look at the other side and it's waaaaaay off. Some wisdom would be appreciated IMG_20200627_115757672.jpeg IMG_20200627_114832047_HDR.jpeg

I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I had to see it together, and I'm sure the wife appreciates the basement looking less like a junkyard. IMG_20200629_164516907_HDR.jpeg

I pulled them off a Buick Roadmaster. Got to bezels, buckets, and headlights for $80. The turn signal housings were pretty rough, but I'll figure something else out.

Going to have to fab up something behind those bezels. I'm still digging it IMG_20200706_124452445_HDR.jpeg IMG_20200706_124617889.jpeg
